About Me

Hi! I am Pieter, a 26-year-old guy from the Netherlands. Currently, I am still finishing up my master's studies at the University of Wageningen, but I hope to be done within half a year. In short, I love being active outdoors, hiking, doing all kinds of sports (e.g. running, swimming, tennis, climbing), cooking tons of food for others and myself alike, going out dancing or to festivals and concerts, and chilling around, talking about topics ranging from day to day things, to psychology, cooking, philosophy, history, politics, random trivia, etc. I like to meet new people, go on adventures, and explore new places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new here on this platform, but I think that experiencing new places from the viewpoint of a local will often bring fresh and unforeseen perspectives. Besides that, I love meeting cool and interesting people, which is something that seems to be very possible through Couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

In terms of music, I listen to a broad range, however, I especially enjoy Indie music (think Khruangbin, Parcels, Tom Misch, Lianne la Havas) and electronic/techno (think Rüfus du Sol, Adtriatique, Bicep); although this list is very limited! Always open to hearing and exploring new types of music, and new artists :)

Some books that I really enjoyed were:
- Sapiens, by Yuval Noah Harari
- the Dune series, by Frank Herbert
- Piranesi, by Susanna Clarke
- Cloud Cuckoo Land, by Anthony Doerr
- Call Me By Your Name, by André Aciman

Movies really depend on my mood, however, I do like a lot of different types. More psychological/weirdish movies are what I tend to gravitate to. Think Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Requiem for a Dream, and Fight Club.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going up all the way north to Lapland, in Finland, and seeing the Northern Lights, swimming in the Artic Ocean after the sauna, and steering a husky-sled. This was one of the most awesome trips I have made in my life :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would say I am experienced in the kitchen, love to share my knowledge on that.

What I would love to learn is more (outdoor) climbing techniques, and, in general, handcraft things such as pottery, knitting, mending clothes, and stuff.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some meals cooked with love, engaging talks and someone to talk to. I also love going dancing, if that is something you would be open to as well.

Countries I’ve Visited
