Hi, I'm Pieter, 39 years old, born and raised in Bruges. I'm a proud citizen of Bruges but I see myself as a citizen of the world without any borders. After a career in horeca, sales and events, I've decided to make a professional change and I became a teacher since September '24, teaching Dutch, economics/sales and history.
Besides my work, I occupy myself with some sports (running, riding my bike, some swimming, climbing ...) and all kind of social activities (going out for a drink, go to the movies, chill with friends, visit a museum ...). I also like history so I'm lucky to live in a historical city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

After I separated from my girlfriend, I stayed in our house because of the children we raise in a week/week arrangement. When the kids are not here, I have a lot of empty rooms and I like to have people around me, to meet new people as well and especially to meet people from all over the world. I also like to promote the beautiful city of Bruges, that's why I want to invite people and be a guide, if they want to, to let them explore our city.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kind of music, from Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley over pop music, rock, classical music, r&b and rap... If I could meet one singer, it would be Rihanna (it's a childhood thing... :-) ).

Also movies, I like all kind of genres but no horror please... unless there's some good company to hide behind. :-)

As a student to become a teacher in Dutch, books are important to me. I read all kind of genres... it's interesting to exchange reading experiences with other people. My very favourites are historical romans.
