About Me
*Profile updated on November 2nd, 2024*
I'm a divorced father of two very cool kids (M15 and M18), who both live with me.
I work in phone-based IT support for 24 years now. End of summer 2018 I transitioned to working as a freelance translator (mainly subtitling for Netflix). Summer 2021 I took on a fulltime job again as an IT support agent. In my current job I partially work from home, in various shifts.
I live in kind of the Dutch version of Washington DC, The Hague (Den Haag), in the Netherlands (otherwise known as Holland), about 65 km (40 miles) from Amsterdam, the capital of my country.
I'm sensitive, kind and patient. Everything I do in life is centered around helping others, either directly (IT support, massaging, teaching languages) or indirectly (assuring subtitling is readable and accurate).
I speak fluent German, English and Dutch. Though I can adapt the way I speak so it's easier for you to understand me, I do expect a basic knowledge of any of these three languages, so we will be able to communicate properly.
I'm comfortable traveling alone and going to events and parties by myself. I usually end up meeting all sorts of cool people, I easily connect with strangers.
Feel free to contact me whenever you are in The Hague (also when you're not intending to stay over). I have an electric moped-scooter and can easily drive you around (I own two helmets).
READ THIS:
Couchsurfing is about establishing a meaningful connection between you and your host. I only accept surfers that come to me for that reason, not if they just want to stay somewhere for free because of budget reasons, arriving late in the evening and leaving early the next day. Please ensure there's enough time for us to get to know each other, that's all I'm saying 😊
Please read the 'Home' section of my profile as well, since it contains important info about where you will sleep.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Accepted a hitch hike ride from a guy on a 1500cc motorcycle, without wearing a helmet (You will pay the fine? Hell yes I will pay the fine!!!). Totally irresponsible, but it was soooo worth it.
Went on a hitchhiking adventure with my 16y old son to Germany, end goal Berlin.
Teach, Learn, Share
A few hours per week I work as a language teacher (English and Dutch). I have a talent for helping people reduce their accent, improving their pronunciation.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you wish then I will gladly give you a therapeutic massage (where needed: neck, shoulders, back, arms, knees, ankles, feet).
Also I can help you improve your accent / speak better in the English, German and Dutch language.
