ABOUT ME

We are a young couple who are currently on a round-the-world trip. Pieterjan (or Peter for the English speakers amonst you) has been actively involved in many organisations, student bodies, improv teams,... He enjoys playing improv and theater, working on radioshows and organizing activities. Sofie is a caring, supportive and very intelligent girl who is for many a valued friend. Some (well, Pieterjan says) say she is a world wonder! She is a superb swimmer and is always open for active sports. We are both lifeguards and enjoy snowboarding and kite-surfing.

PHILOSOPHY

To be found out on the trip! The Australian "no worries" philosophy is getting increasingly popular!
We are already plotting a new trip so maybe Nelson's iconic words might apply to us as well: "On the road again, Goin' places that I've never been. Seein' things that I may never see again, And I can't wait to get on the road again."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are on the road now, so hosting is not possible for the moment. Yet, we have supported our host who are going abroad by providing slide shows, making walks, arranging transports, giving language lessons etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Aaaaawe-some experiences! Having been hosted by a diversity of people, we can only say couchsurfing has positively affected our lives. The warm welcome and incredible hospitality has highly attributed to our travelexperiences.
We have not hosted ourselves but have acted as tourguides making travelarrangements and tours from abroad.

Interests

Sports: swimming, kiting, snowboarding, running for airplanes. Literature (as a literary scholar I try to process most of the literary canon), travel (as much as possible), politics (yes, we still don t have a government), beers and its many tastes, chocolates in all its varieties, cooking (we make quite the chefs), music,...

Music, Movies, and Books

We like all types of music, ranging from Sinatra to La Roux, Florence and the machine, Fasten Bullbus, Kings of Leon to Chopin or Rachmaninov. One thing we especially enjoy are the Live Lounge-recordings on BBC Radio One which hosts contemporary artist who perform a song of a favourite artist. Always open to let you replenish my Ipod.

Pieterjan has a masters degree in English and Dutch literature and linguistics. He has a second masters degree in Political Sciences (European Union Politics and Culture). Sofie has a masters degree in Psychology and can give swimming lessons.
