About Me

I am an Argentinian and as such, passionate about many things in life!

This goes from food to languages, specially if they are new ones...

I believe I am more of a laid-back person and at this age partying hard has gone out of my habits. But I always enjoy a good conversation or a heated debate with a good glass of wine and some chilled music on the back!

I am sort of a nerd/geek in some way and enjoy reading anything from a good novel to a blog or a Wikipedia article. Anything which expands my world!

Right now I am on my first trip to Europe along my boyfriend/partner in crime, Jorge (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/jorgepedelaborde). You could define it as a self-discovery/exploration/moment-of-truth thing we are both excited to be living!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We believe travelling is only properly done when you get to see the real life of the places you visit.

That's why we don't like hotels or any kind of 'typical' accommodation. We are avid users of platforms like Workaway or Housesitting, which gives us a chance to live like locals for a while and experience the true ways of a city.

We believe Couchsurfing can also give us this chance of 'exchange' where we bring our views of the world and own experiences and can learn a bit about others'.

Since we are new to Couchsurfing we do not have many references yet, but we would be more than glad to share with you our references from our Workaway and Housesitting profiles! Please do not hesitate to ask ;)

Interests

- Languages: being a translator I am always looking to learn at least a little bit of any new language I come upon.

- Movies: I am sort of a movie freak and love everything related to cinema and photography.

- Reading: anything at all, from blogs to novels and short stories. Big fan of history books as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music: mostly listen to music in English, though I have some Argentinian bands which I like. Fond of indie rock and rock classics, I also enjoy Latin-American sounds like tango or bossa nova.

- Movies: big fan of classics like 'The Godfather' or almost anything made by Kubrick or Woody Allen (in the good old times). Almodovar and Tarantino groupie. Sofia Coppola is also among my favourites and 'Lost in Translation' is definitely in my personal top 10. Although my new favourite director for the last few years has got to be Richard Linklater ('Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight' series, 'Waking Life', 'Boyhood').

- Books: also read a lot in English (habits from university), where I can mention Capote and Orwell among my favourites. I enjoy absurdist fiction or anything with a dab of existencialism in it. Among Argentinians I am a fan of Cortazar and Puig.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Buy a one-way ticket to Europe with no fixed date of return in mind! Hands down the scariest/best thing I believe both of us has ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

If interested I can help you improve your English/Spanish and you can teach me your language in exchange :)

I am good with anything related to planning/organizing so whether you are doing a spring cleaning or need someone to adjust your travelling plans, I'm the person for it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Any of my small but passionate knowledge!

When I meet people from other places I find it particularly interesting exchanging our views of the world, analysing the main problems/solutions found to some of the issues in our home countries, commenting how things are in other parts of the world where we've been.

So if you want to meet a couple of Argentinians and know a bit more about our way of living/food/culture and language, we are it! :)
