About Me

Hello!

I’m Pippa and I’m currently on a worldwide travel trip with my partner Ali. In Feb we moved to Melbourne from the UK and lived there for 6 months. We are now travelling to Indonesia, Japan, Fiji, New Zealand and onwards!

I studied psychology and work in mental health - in Australia I worked for the university doing research into PTSD, and back home worked for a wellbeing oriented charity. Ali works in creative media and uses film to tell stories about social issues and the impact sport can have on communities.

We like being outdoors, and are happiest doing anything from hiking, kayaking, camping.. you get the gist! We love visiting new places, and are usually laughing about something.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’re on couchsurfing as we’re really keen to meet local people from the places we visit to understand better about the culture and customs. I used to host in London with my housemates and Ali has couchsurfed in America, Canada and Russia. We’re keen to keep doing this!

Music, Movies, and Books

We love music, and have been to see artists in Melbourne such as James Blake and Allen Stone.

My usual response to movies is “I haven’t seen it but I’ve read the book”. I love books! I could spend hours and hours reading books. I have too many favourites.. but I guess the most impactful books I've read include 'A Lightless Sky' by Gulwali Passarlay (about a boy who was a refugee, basically inspired my career path) and 'I Am Malala' by Malala Yousafzai (amazing and insiring young girl who stood up against the Taliban for young girls rights to education).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Australia!

Teach, Learn, Share

We are on here to learn more about other people's culture and customs, and in return are happy to share our stories. Couchsurfing is an amazing platform where you can make memorable connections with people you would never have otherwise met. You would also be more than welcome to come and stay at my place when we are back from our trip, either at my family home in Cambridge or in London.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are friendly, positive and respectful people and would really love to be able to get to know our fellow couchsurfers!

I love card games (Ali is less keen.. but can be persuaded) and board games, and could happily spend an evening chatting over a bottle of wine/beer.
