CURRENT MISSION
Find a new job, a new direction, a new life....
ABOUT ME
I guess I'm quite a thoughtful and philosophical person, but I try not to be too serious - I like to have a laugh and particularly enjoy meeting new people and finding out what their story is.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've spent the last year working at CouchSurfing, helping build the imminent new-look website and the mobile apps. I've now left as I had visa problems, so I'm back to living in London until I work out what I want to do and where I want to go next
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed in a reggae camp in Israel, with a bedouin near Petra in Jordan, and on the California coast with some students. I've been to a few Couchsurfing meet-ups but I still haven't hosted as I've never had room, hoping to change that in the next few months!
Interests
Music is probably my biggest interest, I love listening to music, seeing music live, and playing music (I'm particularly proud of the fact that my family likes to get together and have musical jams from time to time).
Apart from that I enjoy reading (I've just got a kindle which is great for finally getting stuck into books I'd never got round to buying), writing when I get the time, and spending time with friends. I'm also into sports (although I don't play as much as I used to) especially football and cricket (Test match cricket on the radio is a peculiarly English passion of mine) and being a web developer geek I'm also into technology and the latest developments in silicon valley.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A particularly memorable experience was driving through the Karoo mountain range in the South African desert through these incredible narrow winding roads that cut through the mountains and gave the most incredible views. As we were driving bowled over by the scenery, a friend put on this song (which has since become one of my favourite) which only heightened the experience
Teach, Learn, Share
My most obvious skill is web development (PHP) which is something that people are always asking me to share and I do want to....But my real passion for sharing is philosophy, and what I studied in my rather ridiculously named Intellectual and Cultural History - if you're interested in about the history of philosophy, how the scientific worldview developed, why religion has declined, why science has its limitations and how even science has been built upon untestable assumptions - ask me (and I apologise if you have difficult stopping me talking). I also play guitar and be happy to show you a few chords or picking patterns, and if you play I'd love to share a jamming session.I'd love to learn more about pyschology, consciousness, the philosophy of subjectivity, phenomenology, the history of mysticism, early religions or anything else really - generally most things interest me, and the obscurer the better!
