About Me

CURRENT MISSION

keeping things in perspective

ABOUT ME

I am always open to new (and old) things, i like a good challenge and people who take chances!

PHILOSOPHY

MAKTUB (arabic for "it is written")

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in 6 countries, with friends and by myself. I met my husband through Couchsurfing.org (Joris Veldhoven, from the Netherlands) and thus I love the mission and the beautiful connection one can make through this concept.

I have met many interesting people and would like to continue to couchsurf on our travels and host surfers in our home here in Dubai or meet surfers out in the city if we cannot host them!

Interests

i can be (and am) interested in everything! especially if someone is sharing it with me. but for a shortlist: (relatively) unexplored places, any kind of food/drink, socio-econo-political debates, mountains, languages, psychology, superstitions and myths, instrumental music and of course, human dynamics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Unbearable Lightness of Being, Invisible Cities, The Book of Sand, The Bottom Billion, Gone With the Wind, The Alchemist, The Portrait of Dorian Grey, Capitalism's Achilles Heels, Atlas Shrugged, Macbeth, Harry Potters, Labyrinths, One Hundred Years of Solitude, poems by T.S. Eliot, Gitanjali, Interpreter of Maladies

Music: ANYTHING. especially things that make me dance and things that give me goosebumps.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Water hiking in Wadi Hassa, Jordan

Giving birth!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my thoughts on anything from health economics to education policies, to weather conditions in Dubai, to fun ideas on what to do with your children (I have a daughter), to the best places to visit in NYC (where I grew up), to the best classic/black and white movies from the 1940s - 1960s.

I would like to learn about your cuisine and the etiquette around eating in your culture. I love learning about birthing practices and your culture's philosophy on raising children and education.

I can teach you how to write a business plan, get funding for a project, and how to develop your CV to live and work abroad. I can teach you all about Bengali cuisine and rituals. I can tutor you or kids in English language and literature.

Countries I’ve Visited
