About Me

CURRENT MISSION

travel the world, one country, or island, or mountain, or village, or forest, or paradise, or whatever, at a time -- forever.

ABOUT ME

fun loving curious guy, i like to think im pretty layed back. i like going out seeing and living the lives of the locals. wont stop traveling till the traveling is done. i backpacked through europe in 2008 and it changed my life. i went back and sold everything i owned and left home in november of 2009 and i havent been back home yet except for a 3 week visit and its the best decision i have ever made. i went from home to new york to Switzerland to England to thailand to Australia to Malaysia and then back to thailand, and onward to Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, then a year in Hawaii and now I'm the Upper Keys where i live with my one true love (the Sea) and work doing what i love teaching other people how to breathe air underwater. now and i have nothing but good things to look forward to. :)

PHILOSOPHY

"I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls."
— Anaïs Nin

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." -Emerson

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i heard about couchsurfing from a friend at college years ago but only joined in 2010 when i heard a guy that i worked with talking about it. figured it would be a cool way to travel for cheap and meet interesting people along the way. and now after several years i am finally hosting again :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm hosting again after a dry spell and it feels amazing. in 2011 I really started to understand more and more about what CS has to offer. I think its a wonderful system. it provides people with the opportunity to meet fellow travelers and share a part of your local experience with them.

what i like most about it is, occasionally someone will come along and you know immediately that you will be in contact with that person for the rest of your lives. and for travelers thats a wonderful thing. i cant wait to go and visit all the people ive hosted and see what their lives are like :)

i love it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sunset in Bingin, Bali

the Full moon reflecting over the water on the lake, the surface calm as a pane of glass, whilst camping with my friends back home before i left :)

Photo-luminescent plankton literally lighting up the entire water column with little explosions of light, on a night dive in Honduras. the closest thing i can compare it to would be to say it was raining light underwater. It was the kind of dive that makes one believe in god. Possibly the most beautiful thing ive seen in my entire life.

Teach, Learn, Share

still learning :)

"I have come to the frightening conclusion that I am the decisive element. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. I possess tremendous power to make life miserable or joyous."
-"borrowed" this quote from another surfer hehe, unsure as to the author
