About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learning about and practicing trust-based economy in order to practice this at home. Soaking up European history and culture while traveling simply.

ABOUT ME

I am an ENTP by personality, Idealistic in character, enjoy absurdity and physical comedy for sense of humor.

I want to live a second world life, and help other to do that too.

I have started 3 trust economy and food access projects, and have been part of an intentional community of hospitality to the homeless (the Catholic Worker) for 5 years. My life in hospitality has not been on Couchsurfer since it was to the homeless, and I have mostly received it in the context of hitch hiking.

I currently teach Theology online and live in an intentional community in Portland where we offer hospitlaity in the form of neighborhood brunches and living space through my housemate Leeor's profile.

My background has a lot of schooling in Theology and Philosophy, and childhood background in comedy, all of which informs what I enjoy talking about

PHILOSOPHY

How can each aspect of life be honed to become a contact with truth? How can we live with such freedom and purity that our actions make us partakers in God?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING:

As I said, I have offered hospitality to the homeless for several years, as part of a community and in my apartment, but none of this was through a website. I currently live in a community house in Portland Oregon where we offer hospitality through my housemate Leeor's profile, and I sleep in one closet off my bedroom (which is my living room) while offering the other closet as a "guest bedroom".

I have received hospitality in the form of rides while doing several hitch hiking trips around the US, but I rarely used the internet or sites for any of this.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: anything by Simone Weil, Wendell Berry, Exupery, Plato. Also Bible, Way of Lao Tse, Franny and Zooey, Dostoevsky, Nietzsche, Allan Bloom

Movies: Last of the Mohecians, Dumb and Dumber, Royal Tenembaums, I Heart Huckabees, Its a Wonderful Life

Music: to dance: techno, 80s, anthing goofy. To listen: classical, the same goofy stuff, blue grass... don't know too too much about music really, just enjoy it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a hitch hiking based pilgrimage in America without bringing any food or money. The experience was very up and down, and featured many incredible experiences of provision and wonderful encounters.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like sharing dance moves, a breathing technique, the love of certain books, the joy of confusion. Nothing to share in essay form here though.

If you want someone to teach music to... I'd like to learn some instrument, not sure where to start.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences hosting people for years in a community of hospitality. My experiences hitch hiking, and entrepreneuring in the trust economy.

Listening and getting to know a person as much as that person wants to be known.

And I am happy to do chores!
