About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To care for God's beautiful world and the people in it!

ABOUT ME

I've grown up in Canada, living in Ottawa and Halifax, but I've also lived for bits in California and Cape Town. In my travels what I've enjoyed the most are meeting the people. I think building relationships is one of the most important things we can do, which is part of why I think CS is such a wonderful idea. I also love showing hospitality and am keen to learn about it in different ways.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing, on the whole, has been wonderful. I had a great time motoring around Santa Barbara with Phil in Santa Barbara and eating burritos. Solstice weekend was great! Staying with Jason in his green apartment was also lovely. Jon Jon made me feel at home in Cape Town and treated me like a sister :)

Interests

There are so many! I love travelling, of course, visiting art galleries, making good meals, drinking tasty beer, hiking, SCUBA diving, surfing (well, trying to surf), and dancing (especially contra dance:)). I'm interested in photography and textile arts. And people! The most interesting part of all.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hm, music...
Beirut, Fleet Foxes, Purity Ring, Iron & Wine, Sourgrass, Hey Rosetta, Modest Mouse, Avett Brothers...

My room mates and I love hearing new music. If you bring us a CD or playlist with music by ten of your favourite artists from your country, we'll trade you for a playlist of our own!

Books? I was stuck in the 19th century for a long time, so lots of Dickens and Austen and the Bronte sisters. I especially like reading books written in places where I travel, so I welcome recommendations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hand-feeding wild bluefin tuna in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. They're so beautiful. It was like feeding Ferraris.

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Netherlands, Saint Lucia, Spain, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, South Africa, United States
