Model Mayhem

Hi, I am easy going and like to see many places. I travel a bit. Destination states included Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Missouri/Kansas (I go home 4-8 times a year), Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, California, and stopped various places along the way. I am willing to help pay for your trouble with a good shoulder rub. If I end up staying on a regular basis I could do an hour massage sometime.

CS is a hospitality thing. I truly enjoy meeting people. Though I am bad about it sometimes. I have Asperger. Normally you would not know. I have adapted well and am just a little quirky, and sometime quiet--For fear of putting my foot in my mouth or being socially awkward--otherwise I will talk your ear off.... mostly technical stuff. I don't always read social cues, so if you need something say something, but its not normally an issue. I over think things so you don't see it. Other than the occasional quirk Blog about my asperger

To me CS is so much more than just a hospitality thing. If traveling, I want to see the local sites, local life, etc. not just some CS'ers at a pot luck.

For instance, I am quite a CS tour guide here in New Orleans. I don't know everything, but I do a good job showing people around, and can find out the answer to most things. I like gatherings too, invasions, and more, and I enjoy going out on the town.

Thus Couchsurfing is more than just a cheap place to stay, but I am not opposed to quick visits. If I am traveling, and ask for a room, I generally will try and at least be around early enough for chilling or doing something. Surfing sure beats the car.

I am a big last minute person, and I check the local last minute group for those visiting locally when I am up for hosting. Sorry for all those CS'ers that say hey you need to plan ahead-don't hound those that post there for not planning. Dates and plans always change. For me as a host, I don't know what I am doing next week let alone next month weather I am working, traveling, stressed, or need time alone or with others. Plus sometimes its easier to get a generic post that a form letter posted to 50 people because the surfer to host ratio is off balance. About half my guests come from there.

Oh and CS does not scale well, so sometimes you have to reverse the searching. i.e. post that you have needs, or create an event. Heck its New Orleans, host in a hotel. You can't count on hosts being available for Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest. We get 100's of requests, and are probably hosting our friends. Hotels fill up 3-11 months ahead. Heck New Orleans is a dichotomy we don't know what we are doing till we are doing it, yet you almost gotta plan ahead. -- Thus, you probably can't get a response more than 10 days out, but but can't guarantee a room unless you book months in advance.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am not picky, just no rap. I love a house party, small venue clubs (indie), occasionally a coffee house -- Dancing I enjoy to Lindy, West Coast, Two Step, a line dance-generally country, and with a drink I enjoy getting funky to hip hop, electronic, or something else... PLUR

Movies: Art, indie, chick flicks, horror, action.
(Short Bus, Saw, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw..., 7 pounds, Yes Man) I am flexible I just get lost in the movie, and bite my nails for no reason.
