About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel and explore the world and meet new people

ABOUT ME

Hey guys, my name is prateek, otherwise known as teeks. I am from Melbourne in Australia. I finished study about 5 years ago (Accounting&Finance/ Economics). From 2008 to 2011 I had been working at a firm called Ernst & Young and did my CA (a Postgrad course in Accounting). I had taken a career break from work to travel.

This trip I travelled to South America, Africa, Middle East, India, Burma and Nepal. Few things I have been doing: lived in Buenos Aires for 10 weeks and learnt Spanish (can speak conversationally), climbed my first 6000m peak (Huayna Potosi in Bolivia) and first 5000m peak (Kiliminjaro), hiked in the Himalayas in Nepal and India, visited Macchu Picchu, Egypt Pyramids, Petra, Victoria Falls, few game reserves in Africa including Serengeti, few politically sensitive areas such as Kashmir, Burma, Palestine, Egypt, yoga/meditation courses and volunteer work in India, teaching myself the guitar etc etc..

I have had an absolute blast for a year and a half, met some great people and learnt lots. Now the money and the motivation required to be a nomad is drying up so I am thinking of adopting sedentary living for a while and moving to London to find work.

I love to talk travel, world politics, food, films, sports (cricket & football) etc and like to have a drink. I am a really easy going, friendly guy, easy to get along with. I love trying and exploring new things. In short, i love to be adventurous. I like partying and meeting people and making friends.

I also love travelling and the idea of visiting and exploring new countries, cultures, historical sites and above all trying different foods from around the world.

Couchsurfing, i reckon is the perfect solution to both my passions- travel and meeting new people.

PHILOSOPHY

I can probably put the 15 quotes i got on this forwarded email the other day. But in a nutshell I believe that live this moment to the fullest. Do what gives you real happiness. Remember happiness is a journey! Dont stress about the finish line.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing my first 6000m mountain was the most incredible personal challenge.
Travelling West Bank (Palestine) with an English Illustrator interviewing businesses and people in Refugee Camps.

Another thing I recall which was truly amazing for me and will be ingrained in my memory for a long long time is chatting to a worker in this town called Khuri (near Jaisalmer) who takes ppl to desert safaris. Indians being generally very social and open about their life this man told me that he earnt Rs2500 per month in which he looked after himself, his wife, 3 kids and his mother and still hopes some day to have enough money to open his desert safari business. That experience so different to my life as a consultant and was a great moment that made appreciate my present, the great fortune of my life, my great luck with my opportunities and provided me with a sense appreciating and concentrating on my present and finding a balance between past and future.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am learning spanish at the moment - so would love to learn more in this field..
