About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Plan for a trip to Southamerica and actually DO IT!! :)

ABOUT ME

36 years ago a little (rather chubby) girl was born in the hospital of Poznan. Unfortunately it was during the Soviet occupancy and times were not easy. Because of my dad's political activities (which I'm proud of) in liberating Poland from the Soviet Union, times just got rougher and we emigrated to Sweden with the help of the Swedish government.

After my parents divorce my mom met Lino from Uruguay, and our lives changed. He opened the door to the Latin community for us. Soon we were listening to Chilean, Cuban and Uruguayan folklore, eating bread with dulce de leche, drinking mate and learning how to dance Latin dances! Thanks to this experience I have always loved the Latin culture and cannot imagine my life without it.

About 20 years down the road I bought a one way ticket and decided to move to Spain and start a new life away from cold and dull Sweden. For the first 2,5 years I lived in Barcelona where I experienced lot of different kinds of cultures and ways of living. I took a chance and moved to Valencia where I attended the University of Valencia, worked, struggled through the financial crisis and made friends for life. After 5 years I decided to move on so I packed by bags and went straight to Ibiza for 5 months where I worked and had the time of my life.

When the summer was over I bought a one way ticket to Barcelona and I here i am!

PHILOSOPHY

I love getting up in the morning facing yet a new day. This is the first day of the rest of my life. I am the one that can turn anything around whenever it goes south. And believe me...it has a couple of times. We are never alone in this world, in any kind of experience or feeling. My basic philosophy is that I have to adapt to my environment to survive. There is almost always a bright side to everything. This can be a struggle, but as long as there is hope and a will, there is a way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In any way I can by hosting, surfing and constantly meeting fantastic people!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A great way to get to know the real culture of a country and its people. My experiences have all been positive and a lot of different faces have been recorded in my memory.
I have really had the luck to meet brilliant people, so good and heartwarming. Looking forward to making my next CS trip! I have hosted mostly and barely travelled. The experiences are priceless. I cannot imagine travelling without CS..

Interests

I like to dance latin dances, participate in the community by volunteering in any way posible, be out in the nice fresh air by bike or hiking and travel of course. I love sports and I am open to new fun activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of Family Guy (due to my very nasty sense of humor) , Almodovar movies, Guy Richie movies amongst many many others, world music, cuban rumba, brazilian batucada and good old soul, jazz and swing. Basically, uptone music.
I love reading good old writers from the beginning of the 20th century. After Freud literature simply bloomed..
I love originality. Any author, screenwriter, composer that has had an impact on the world, has had the same impact on me. And I´m not talking about commercial stuff, but true, real and authentic art.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I loved going to Southamerica and getting to know the people in their own environment. Crossed the Andes by buss from Chile to Argentina and back. Saw some amazing vegetation and historical sights. Went to see Inti Illimani live on Valentine's Day...which is the most romantic date I've ever been on.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.. And hell, it is..

Countries I’ve Visited
