About Me

Currently, we are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so not hosting. Hopefully, we'll be back after the victory.

We are family from Ivano-Frankivsk (which is native for Roman, and Polina is from the east of Ukraine). We are in love with the city and our country, so be sure that we'll tell you a lot about it, show you around, share some traditions, ideas and experiences.

It depends on the time you come, but we may also help you in exploring the Carpathian mountains. In non-couchsurfing life, it is also our job.
We often invite foreigners to join our treks in the Carpathians (for free or paying only the cost price). You can check the routes, timetable and other information about the Carpathians at the page of our travel agency on FB: https://www.facebook.com/trekkinginukraine or at the website: http://www.prostoneba.com.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Our town is not full of tourists, so most of the time we are available.
Don't hesitate to leave the last minute request here (usually we answer fast) or contact us on facebook:

We believe that CS is not about just saving money during your trip. But we don't like when some hosts misunderstand it as a way of exchange of material things. You are not obliged to pay for our dinner, bring food, presents or whatever to our house. Bring just yourself:) We are here in our hometown to help you on your road. And we really enjoy it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Nowadays we mostly host. We hosted amazing people listening to hundreds of their impressive stories.
Although we had some bad experience we are not yet disappointed in CS.

Interests

We prefer travelling somewhere closer to nature and further from people and the "city jungle". But we are also fond of walking along the narrow streets, listening to the heels knocking the sett paved roads, watching the traces of history on the old buildings. We enjoy learning about different types of urban planning.

We like sports and being active. Our perfect morning starts with running around the lake nearby.
We enjoy the exhaustion after cycling all day. Our style of life can be called healthy, but we are not fanatic about it.

We are not beyond politics. Actually, nobody can be. We like to discuss it and modern processes and relations in the world.

We love art and can distinguish Monet from Manet:)

Some of our interests are not common. Polina is a military lawyer and her professional interests are free legal aid for vulnerable persons, protection of human rights, rights of prisoners of war, humanitarian law during the war conflicts, PTSD.

And Roma is in love with stars, maps, countries' statistics and other geographical stuff. Ask him, he may be a wikipedia for you.

Music, Movies, and Books

We like reading; before visiting a country we are immersed in reading fiction and non-fiction books of local authors. It gives some background for its understanding.

We also can be guide for you into Ukrainian classical and modern literature. It definitely worth the attention. Our town is the right place to discover some Ukrainian modern literature, as it's hometown to many writers. There is a saying "People of Ivano-Frankivsk don't read books... as they write them":)

Music is a big part of our life: playing, collecting new pieces and listening. We met each other at a rock music festival many years ago:) We are open to all genres.
We'll especially appreciate if you introduce to us your local music.
