Interests

I like travelling and appreciate natural and cultural variety of the planet. Since my research area is Arctic I've been there on expeditions several times, and each time it was fantastic! I love Arctic - so severe but amazing at the same time. Of course, other places on Earth attract me as well, especially those where there are mountains and sea.
As a citizen of St.Petersburg, I enjoy walking around the city and journeys into the country.
I'm fond of sport! Unfortunately, I almost have no time to do it having to sit at a computer instead of that. But at least I try to keep myself fit. Bicycling, running, hiking, trekking, summer and winter swimming and quite seldom skiing, skating, rock climbing.
My new avocation - sailing the captain gigs (of Frigate Shtandart project).
Music: I play baroque flute (recorder) in the Early Music Ensemble at St.Petersburg University (but I'm just a beginner)
