About Me
ABOUT ME
Hope I’m allowed to use quotes for this:
as in desperation, [he] managed to define culture as a map, as a sieve, and as a matrix.
moonstruck, much-enduring (T. Carlyle about Jean-Paul Marat)
leon trotsky thinks i'm hotsky.
punk rock ruined my life.
the one who unchains.
I define myself as ‘a cultural studies student’ (I specialize in popular music) though I haven’t formally graduated yet (for the record: I’ve almost completed the university program, except for the finals)). I enjoy both doing research and teaching others. For the last 5 years I’ve been working as a private English tutor.
Interests
The thing I’m most passionate about is music, and obviously, I started listening to it as well as making it (mostly vocals and violin; sometimes piano/guitar, though I’m far less skilled in those) – much earlier than turning it into an actual object of study :’D I used to stаte in every description of my profiles on sociаl networks that my BA thesis was (in fаct, it is) about Anti-Flag (“reception practices in contemporary punk rock blah blah blah”)).
There are other things, like ’medical sociology’ (hmm amateur level); a rough description of this hobby can go as: “a “couch expert” consults doctors/clinicians who happen to be her friends and appreciate her curiosity and that she does take time to delve into questions.”
At some point in my life, I learned that there’s an academic journal, “Medical Problems of Performing Arts”, and the very fact made me feel soft of legit c:
- arts
- culture
- concerts
- traveling
- music
- piano
- violin
- history
- languages
- medicine
- languages and cultures

Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Russian, that's for sure!
(and some English because it's my job))
I can tell you a lot about Russian realities, how it's like to be a humanities student there, how our education system works, – and, of course, which stereotypes about Russian culture are true and which are not true at all :)
I love amateur music making, so we can sing or play music together, maybe sing at a karaoke bar...
