关于我

CURRENT MISSION

Trying to change the world!

ABOUT ME

Oh man, well I am a definite social butterfly, I love just meeting new people and hearing their stories for the sake of listening and sharing. I love love love live music. Most of my friends in NC are in literary/music scenes and I was a part of a co-ed literary and arts fraternity (more like a dirty commune for fun people than a fraternity though) while at UNC. I am currently living in an intentional-community house, where we are trying to make a space that encompasses more than the four individuals who are contracted to pay rent to live here. I believe whole-heartedly in the power of community and hope to foster a strong community space while in Boone, and would probably enjoy your company in doing so.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am trying to foster a growing community of friends and neighbors in the Blowing Rock area (as well as probably propagandize a bit for Habitat for Humanity).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Most of my couch surfing experience comes from visiting random chapters of my fraternity at Columbia, Brown, UPenn, and visiting all kinds of cities in the states: Philadelphia, DC, Portland, New York were some of my favorites.
Since moving to Boone we have hosted a good number of couchsurfers, and it has been amazing sharing our home with such great people.
Two of my favorite couch surfing experiences are 1. in New York when I had the chance to meet a dear friend I had met in Berlin while studying abroad who lived in Turkey and I thought I would never be able to see again in my life.
The second was when I visited Brown and built a couch fort in the middle of their living room with blankets and lamp stands forming the top layer of the fort.
I also spent a month WWOOFing in Argentina, which was sort of like living on a couch but instead it was an adobe shed of sorts and on a sleeping bag sprawled across a wooden loft.

All of them.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

One story I love telling people is of the Berlin Wall and the first time I saw the beach bars in Berlin.
So: you have the Berlin wall and about 40-50 yards of space between the wall and the strands (small rivers running through the city for commerce/trade etc.) which used to be covered with land mines before the fall of the wall. After the wall collapsed, and the mines were cleared, some genius decided that the best thing to do with this space would be to get dump trucks, fill them with sand, and build artificial beaches in the middle of the city. Sitting on a beach in the summer with the strand in front of me and the Berlin Wall behind was an Amazing experience.
