Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couchsurf with my boyfriend Tiago since 2008. Our first CS experience was in Galicia, Spain, not so far from home. It was a great experience to start with. Then we went to Morocco where we met extraordinary and kind people, who opened up their house for us as if we were family. We learned how to eat with our hands and met a berber family. It was great.
Back home, humbled by this experience, we had the urge to give back, to share. So we decided to host (we had never done it because our flat was so small...) and then we met very nice people from Poland and Belgium and had a great great weekend together.
It cannot go wrong if you are in the spirit. This is Couchsurfing, a great idea to meet people, to expand your boundaries and have an insider's view of the country you are visiting. It is not only about saving money, so I tend to decline requests if I sense that people do not intend to spend a single minute with us or to even try to make small talk. Our house is not a hotel. We better have time to have at least a nice conversation...
