About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Dance my way through as much of the world as possible!

ABOUT ME

I am a performer/explorer/farmer/teacher/organizer living in the Bay Area. I spent some years in college and plan to continue to leave and return as my interests change. In my time off I lived in Santiago, Chile (where I fell in love with a wonderful Chilean, although our paths headed in different directions when I returned to travel with him), worked harvests at my family's organic apple farm in California while cultivating my circus skills (stiltwalking and aerial silks), in between which I strapped my hula hoop to my backpack and explored chile, argentina, uruguay and Brazil for 4 incredible months, and spent time being a bay-area gypsy and dancing as much as possible. In 2010 I spent another year continuing to work towards finishing up my undergrad degree and making the most out of the in between time (burning man, teaching silks classes in my hometown, being a bilingual teaching assistant for design program that pairs CCA design and art students with Oaxacan artesanos so they can come up with new products and designs together using traditional local materials). In the Spring of 2011 I returned home after an epic month-long journey from Cancun, Mexico to Ayampe, Ecuador where I was working with a team of wood carvers from New Zealand to build an Eco-community/wood carving and circus school/collaborative performance venue--an absolute dream job, but quite an undertaking that still requires a lot of work before it really gets off the ground. For the last 3 years I was based in Portland, OR and touring the country with a crazy steamfunk rock and roll circus marching band as a dancer/stiltwalker/acrobat/artistic director (with a couple trips to cuba thrown in). Now, after another season helping my family out at the farm I am planting some roots in Oakland and am starting my own performance collective.

Life is just a matter of making the most out of the opportunities that present themselves and trying not to be discouraged or limited by the system and the self-doubt that inevitably creeps in. Inspiration is all around and I'm feeling hopeful about the future!

PHILOSOPHY

Right now I am just trying to be open to letting life take me where it will. Living in the moment, acknowledging my emotions, and being true to them while not allowing them to consume me are things I struggle with all the time. But the more I am able to open myself up to new experiences and ideas, the more I believe the world is a beautiful place in which we can manifest whatever it is we truly desire.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have officially couchsurfed quite a bit in Chile and Argentina, and unofficially (meaning I did it without the website...meeting people and staying with them) throughout Uruguay and Brasil. While back at the farm I hosted a few people and had great experiences with all of them and hope to be able to continue to host and surf wherever I am.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Argentine couchsurfing friend told me to say on my profile that I am a vegetarian...so here it is...I am warning all the Argentines...no como asados! lo siento!
