About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn as much about the world as possible so that I can make it funner, fairer and more beautiful

ABOUT ME

Hello Folks. I suppose I have to say that I'm a really great person...otherwise no-one will want me on their couch! I love going out, socialising with friends and strangers alike. I love travelling and have done a lot around Europe and I went to India this winter. I've travelled to a number of festivals and raves (Czech Tech, Sziget), to protests and just for more simple fun. I lived in France (Lyon) and in Germany (Berlin) and speak both these languages pretty well - always interested in picking up new words and learning about cultures and languages! Although I love spending time with new people I'm also very independent and can amuse myself, I would not see my host as obliged to give me a good time.

PHILOSOPHY

On a small scale I'd say try and make everyone around you smile. On a larger scale I'd say try and put back into the world something equivalent to what you've taken from it. So i think we all have an obligation to try and minimise climate change, political corruption and exploitation, economic inequality etc...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfed and hosted but never go to gatherings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first couchsurfed by accident! I was traveling around Portugal with my boyfriend, planning on going to Porto but totally lacking cash. Unfortunately we had no luck with trying to find couchsurf partners over the internet, as we lacked experience and time. But we met some great people at a festival and it turned out one of them was a couch surfer and put us up. It was excellent. I really felt like I got into the life of the city through the people we stayed with, in a way the hostels could just never do! Since then I've couchsurfed in France and India and met great people.

Interests

People make my world go round. I love socialising, going to pubs, parks or wherever with new and interesting people. Its such a great way to get to know the culture and language of a new city. Dancing, laughing, dreaming. I love cooking and food. Electronic music. Politics and current affairs, because where exactly is society headed?... History, art and culture, so I love going to galleries and festivals. I have worked in documentary film and I really love watching documentaries, films, experimental film.

Music, Movies, and Books

Electronic music- jungle, warp, dubstep, drum n bass, breaks. Reggae, dub, danehall. Old folk- Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen. Books- all too many, at the moment I'm reading 'Guns, Germs and Steel' its sort of anthropological and incredible fascinating. Movies, many French and European, I love jean Pierre Jeunet. A lot of British classic and comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every day is amazing! I've really loved participating in political protests, such as against the G8 in Scotland and in Germany. The cooperation and comraderie between complete strangers is amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope I can tell people a bit about the cities where I've lived and the places I've been. Whatever skills I have I'd love to share them. Like cooking for example!
