About Me

Fun loving, down to earth fellow. Not too down to earth, as in a square sense, but not really spacey. A good example: I wonder how many hyphens this paragraph needs, but don't care enough to inquire deeply.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been to most all of the United States on my own accord. Spent the first decade of my adult life exploring different places and lifestyles. I just spent a couple years trying out a couple jobs: most notably was a landscape crew leader, and an apartment renovator. Neither of the two really suited me, nor did the area I was in, so I'm getting back out there to explore again.

Interests

Love both the outdoors and the indoors. I'm the computer geek covered in mud. I can sit in LAN party in a basement for 72 solid hours of gaming, or spend 3 weeks in the middle of a national park completely unplugged. Try to avoid stagnation on either end; switch between the two lifestyles constantly.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Changes, but anything with skill, talent, heart, and/or soul. Movies: Seen a ton. Books: If you haven't noticed I don't really have favorites. For a long time it was Ender's Game (movie was weak), recently read For Whom the Bell Tolls, dig Vonnegut and King. Read a lot of Clancy as a kid, but kinda grew outta that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I almost did was get blown away to Cuba on a fishing boat. Engine died with 30-40 mph southbound winds. Anchors wouldn't catch, lucked out and grabbed right before the shelf dropped too far to grab anything. Had to call a tow boat 4.5 miles away from shore. If you can avoid it, never call a tow boat. Those things are expensive.

Teach, Learn, Share

Eh? OK!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Myriad of repair skills. Computer (software and hardware), household (minor carpentry, electric, plaster, paint, appliance replacement, hvac.. Usually if I can't fix it I'll at least know a viable outlet to have it done), and outdoor (famiiar with most power tools and gardening tools, can build rock walls and ponds, plant and remove plants, trim, prune, edge, place seed, harvest).

Or just someone to have around to sit down and talk about life.
