About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding a house/pet sitter while Claire and I are in Mexico. Are you staying in the Colorado Springs area February 4-19? Do you know anyone trustworthy who would live in our home in Fountain in exchange for watching two loving dogs and two adorable cats? Let us know!

ABOUT ME

I am an outdoor and experiential educator working mostly with at-risk and underprivileged youth. I live with my dogs, Whitman and Phoebe and my fiancé, Claire. I recently finished my MFA in Creative Non-Fiction at Northern Arizona University and am working on several writing projects, including a narrative account of positive behavior intervention at a summer camp for urban youth.

Claire works for W.L. Gore (inventors of GoreTex fabric) in their medical device division.

PHILOSOPHY

Most of life is about practice. I practice speaking Spanish, I practice yoga, and I practice storytelling. Patience takes practice. A loving attitude takes practice. I'm working to learn that relationships take practice, as does being the best version of yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and been hosted. My experience has been great on both accounts. I've met some incredibly genuine and giving people while traveling. I love this community and can't wait to (hopefully) meet some new friends in our adopted city.

Interests

My mind is never so much at peace than while paddling a canoe. I love hiking, biking, paddling, and occasionally do Spartan Races so I'm forced to workout. I like to eat fresh food, drink good coffee and craft beer, write, and watch the clouds roll by. I love working with kids, positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS), talking with genuine people, and throwing the LED frisbee in the dark with my fiancé.
