Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I am going to be surfing. I might be able to host in the future. I think I need to prep my place first. I want to see what it's like as a surfer first in order to know what I should be offering people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My usual couch surfing is with people I personally know, with maybe a couple experiences of friends of friends. This will be my first time trying something like this out.

Interests

I am in a Brazilian percussion band. I like all kinds of food. Wherever I go, I try the local street food and/or specialties. I am a reader of science fiction. I like going on hikes and seeing great natural sights, I like exploring history and culture, I like snorkeling, and I like seeing other unique aspects about a place.

Aside from being in a band, the other thing that might be interesting about me is that I am in a theater troupe that does yearly shows on roller skates in the winter and water ballet shows in the summer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Brazilian music, dance music from various countries and eras, Stereolab, some hip hop, some rock, etc.
Books: I have some friends who write fantasy & science fiction. I have been reading their books lately.
Films: Anything surreal or thought provoking, I also like some comedic and action films

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1) Getting to go inside the Golden Temple in Amritsar and hearing the beautiful kirtan
2) Playing in Carnaval in Salvador, Bahia with members of my band
3) Seeing baby pandas in China
4) Swimming in cenotes in Mexico
5) Jumping in to Crater Lake in Oregon

Teach, Learn, Share

I like languages. I'd be happy to do a language exchange with someone, if we match up in that area. With advance notice I could bring some mp3s of interesting new music from Latin America or what have you. I can make some things in the kitchen, depending on what ingredients you have in your city, so I would not mind cooking if you would like that. When I was in Australia I made bean burgers for a host.
