Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting surfers. I enjoy sharing stories and fun. I enjoy sharing meals and cooking. I enjoy sharing what my city has to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Signing up for couch surfing, I thought perhaps I would host a few people as a social experiment and to exchange cultures. I enjoy that aspect very much.

I have hosted over 30 surfers in the first year. I have not yet surffed a couch but I have used the service to find out what attractions other cities have to offer.

Asking people to leave your house is very awkward. Their are two very different experiences as a host. 1: Talking and sharing experiences. 2: Being used like a free hotel. If both of those are together it is a fufilling experience. If I'm just being used as a free hotel then am not getting anything out of it.

Sometimes our plans don't work out and we have no time to talk and share and that is fine but, other times the surfers don't make an attempt at sharing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will share with you the beauty of the city that I live in. Beaches, open oceans, mountains. A big city with a town feel to it. I will point you onwards in your journey to Tofino($100 long bus trip), and warn you of it's frequently rainy, foggy, windy west coast weather(Long beach is beautiful). If our plans align I can show you a beautiful lookout over the city and the country side, the surrounding islands, mountains and stars. I will point you in the direction of micro brew pubs. Perhaps we can cook together or for each other.
