About Me

I'm not sure what you intent to read from this tab. If you're reading this tab to make sure if I'll be a nice and smiling host or a not- so- annoying guest, well ask me for a link to my facebook profile. I think that's a better way to understand what I'm up to, what I was up to and pretty much some other basic things too which might help you understand if we might get along/ share a nice guest- host time.

However, as for a brief intro, here it goes:
I'm a skeptic. Not that skeptic who keeps bashing pseudoscience or religion. But that skeptic who is confused, filled with doubts and questions. That extents to doubting the fact that I doubt. A listener, a speaker, a dreamer. Like a curious little kid, I'm interested in almost anything new: I just want to know.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've always wanted to travel, you see! That curious kid who wants to explore, keep exploring and exploring. I love to know about different cultures.
And couchsurfing is a place where I can achieve that- be able to meet and host people from different cultures.

And, an anecdote of choice:
All my life, my parents have been very protective of me- asking me not to talk to strangers, not to trust strangers.
There's this day, I'm at Calicut, a new city for the first time, all alone. And I couldn't find a bus that'd take me back to Chennai so I use Google maps to find the next closest city/ town from which I can find a bus- Palghat it is!
So, I board a bus to Palghat and halfway, I get to meet this stranger known by the name Balu who occupies the aisle; he is sweating profusely and I offer him the window seat to roll down the windows and get some fresh air. He smiles in gratitude and asks where I'm headed to; I tell him my story and he suggests me with details of the boarding point I must be heading to, adding a caution message that auto rickshaws might not be available by that time of the night.
Finally, I reach Palghat and am in the pursuit of a rickshaw at vain.
Surprisingly, Balu shows up in his moped, having driven all the way from the place he got off at to the bus stand I got off at. He offers me a ride to the boarding point and although a bit paranoid, I accept the ride and he drives me to the boarding point 20 minutes away, calls the bus operator and talks to him in the vernacular language (a mixture of Tamil and Malayalam that I could very well understand yet not speak) and asks me kindly if I've had my dinner yet as he's sure now that the bus might take another 20 minutes to depart. He takes me to a nearby restaurant in his moped where we eat and drink some coffee.
He drives back with me to the boarding point and waits with me until the bus departs, leaves, expecting nothing in return. I try to think and think to find at least one reason other than having offered him the window seat, as to why he'd help me so much!

And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Taught a class of 43 super humans in a low income public school for two years

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to read, write and speak basic Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.

I teach a bunch of super human 6th graders in a Public school here in Pune, I can share my anecdotes from my time with these kids.

I'd like to learn Bangla, Español, Italiano, and probably every new language you speak. I've educated myself thru online resources on reading Russian and would be glad if you can help me improve :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

For guests: I can offer a couch to crash on, blankets, towels and some basic supplies. I can crack poor jokes which you can opt out of laughing to. And you could use my guitar to sing a song, if you would!

For hosts: I can sing along, share stories.
