About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Maintain my inner peace

ABOUT ME

I´d define myself as a very patient person, happy, optimistic and plenty of hope and excitement. Working with children in summer camps gave me back the hope and excitement I needed.

My friends usually say I´m like a child in an adult´s body :-)

I try my best to be respectful with mother Earth as much as I can by moving by bicycle, being vegetarian, efficient with energy, recycling, re-using... without extremisms though!!

PHILOSOPHY

For many years I was stuck in my own life, closed in the university and then in an office. A year ago I started a new period in my life and now I feel like I took the right choice.
Now I´m richer in experiences and much happier. I manage to get money for my travels and dreams and, until now, it´s working (fingers crossed, haha). I have also many plans for future which keeps me enthusiastic.

The only things you´ll keep when you are old will be your memories, and I´d like to reach old age plenty of them, specially the good ones.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I didn't get seriously involved in CS until I first moved to the UK. I met fantastic people through CS which encouraged me to host other CSers.

I got very involved with the Sheffield CS community during my first months and even organised several events.

Recently we moved to another house with a spare room and now we are hosting CSers on a regular basis.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All the way from the beginning (just meeting some CSers occasionally) to the current situation (hosting CSers regularly) has been just fantastic.

Interests

I enjoy practising sports, specially mountain sports such as mountaneering and climbing. I also practise regularly running, cycling and swimming and, one of my favourites, canoeing. I try to move by bicycle everywhere cause it´s so environmentally friendly and gives such a feeling of freedom...

I also like a lot being in natural environments, feeling the humidity in the forests, the wind in the leaves of the trees and listenning to the birds. In the past, I was a very active member in an environmental group.

Travelling is another passion, I may have started a bit late, but now I´m pretty free so I´m making the most of this situation :-)

It´s true I´m a bit shy at the beginning, but I´m an easy-going and talkative person as soon as I feel a little comfortable.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Galician writers A.R. Castelao and X.Neira Vilas really got to my heart with their books.

The short tales "The mand who plated trees" (J. Gionno) and "The little prince" (A. de Saint-Exupery) really moved me. Music-wise I like punk with The Ramones being my cult band.

I´m not very into cinema but if I ever go horror would be my favourite genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being received in Antalya (Turkey) with a shot and a man with a shotgun who 20 minutes later was offering his home to sleep was quite interesting... :-)

The Alps, that massive massif whose rocky needles point high up in the sky like if they were pillars of this planet. Could stare at them for days... Also Ordesa Valley in the Pyrenees remained for me and for a long time as the most beautiful place on Earth.

The decadent, messy and artistic city of Valparaiso (Chile) and the end of the world (Tierra del Fuego, Argentina) were some of the best parts of our trip to South America.

And of course, the sunset over Uyuni salt flat in Bolivia. Still the most beautiful sunset of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can introduce you to rock climbing and mountaineering. I'm currently going through the mountaineering instructor scheme and hopefully will be officially qualified in 4-6 years.

I can also reveal the secrets of my famous "vegan omelette".

Or maybe you can improve your Spanish with me, I'm very patient person and have had loads of language exchanges, so I perfectly understand the difficulties of it.
