About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The grass is greener if you water it

ABOUT ME

I'm from and prefer the smaller, rural, parts of the world. I first up wanted to be a builder, then park ranger and after that a researcher. Never thought I'd be a teacher but here I am! It runs in the family. I like cycling and road my bike around a fair bit of New Zealand one year. I also love the Alps. I moved here to Harrietville very much because of them and also lived in the French ones a few years ago. There's something about mountain air, cheese, bread (and wine). Makes you feel like you can do anything.

PHILOSOPHY

Smile, ask questions, and be interested in others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm keen to share my couch but don't yet have a place of my own to offer. I think CS is a great chance to build understanding and friendship between people. And just practicing placing trust in another's hands. Just what we all seem to be needing these days.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None formally, but when cycling around New Zealand, nearly 7 years ago now, I was put up by some beautiful people I'd only just met. They were immediately welcoming; beyond my expectations and it really helped make my trip. If I've got the chance to give something back, now that I'm not travelling as much, then I'm a lucky person.

Interests

I like my reading; there's heaps of books here. Also listening to and sometimes playing a bit of music. I used to climb a bit and am getting back into it this spring if you're keen. There's also mountainbiking and skiing to do around here which keeps you fit and healthy. Hiking and camping, sometimes a quick trip to the coast and a surf. I like being practical and fixing things when I can. Basic bits on the car, sewing up my pants, changing mower blades etc. I really like cooking as well; I just need to add some diversity to my repertoire and I'll be set.
