About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To rekindle the spark that couchsurfing ignited in me 15 years ago. It's been 7+ years since I did much surfing and I truly miss it. The people I met and experiences I had while surfing dramatically changed my course in life. I am taking a trip at the end of 2022 and want to surf again. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about doing this again :-)

ABOUT ME

For the last 8 years, I’ve lived and breathed my business. I started the first food cart in the town I live in, and expanded to a seasonal restaurant in 2016, then full time in 2018. Now I own two locations, and am opening a sports hobby shop in early 2023. Thru life, I've kinda taken on a wide variety of interests and kinda ran with them. Every few years in my 20's and into my 30's I immersed myself in a variety of things revolving mostly on health, philosophy, and understanding of the world. A year or two digging deep, then onto the next thing. More recently, business and personal development has been an ongoing focus. I love everything it has taught me, and enjoy passing it along to the many young people that have worked for me over the years. With that said, as mentioned in the mission section, the wanderlust gene in me is calling and that's why I'm back here where it all began.

PHILOSOPHY

If we take care of ourselves (thru healthy food, yoga, etc) and work together (bartering, sharing, creating community), we can make this a very amazing experience. It's not up to each of us to change the world, but we can change our own world and get with people doing the same. I want to play my small part in making this happen wherever I am at the time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's been several years since I've done anything on here. I don't have a good setup for hosting at home, but am very excited about getting back into participating again thru travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All extremely positive. The people i've met have changed my view of the world for the better. I've found couchsurfing to be the medium in life where i've met the most of "my kinda people". I've done several trips over the last few years and couchsurfing has been a missing element from them. If you don't have a story of a person you met or an experience you've shared with a stranger turned friend travel is just not the same.

Interests

Juicing, rock climbing, football, theosophy, a wide variety of music, Yoga, travelling, floatation tanks, native american ritual, business growth, the subconscious mind, personal growth, open-minded discussions on nearly anything

Music, Movies, and Books

Fight Club is my fav book. I can’t tell you how much it has effected my life. I’ve taken so many things from this regarding minimalism, non attachment, and other wisdom from this book and applied it to my life. Also like the guide to better leading series (business) by Ari Weinzweig. Celestine Prophecy, Vagabonding, 4-hour work week.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My restaurant, the Hungry Hippie, is the first food cart turned restaurant in the city I grew up in. I started it in 2016 with zero restaurant experience and really no skills in the kitchen whatsoever. My basic plan was to slowly build out the cart, then make dishes from a few of the more popular food carts I went to in Portland, Oregon. Quite the thought out concept, haha! The first few years were a disaster, but I kept with in and slowly got better at what i was doing. 9 years later I own two locations, and we've been voted best fast food in the city several years in a row. To go from where I started to where things are now has been quite a ride.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an easy, low maintenance guest. If you can hang out that's the best, otherwise I occupy myself pretty easily. As far as sharing, I guess knowledge coming from an outside the box thinker. I definitely have some interesting views on life and have always had amazing discourse with anyone up for a good conversation.
