About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to meet you! ;)
ABOUT ME
I love silliness and am happy and stoked about life.
I'm currently completely obsessed with learning how to program computers. I'm an avid runner and make it out for a spin around SF nearly every day. I love entrepreneurship and have started a few little businesses. I love art and music and dancing. I've been starting a collection of science books and try to read them for a couple hours on the weekends. I just can't get over how we are made up of atoms which are made up of the same materials, but everything is so different! Fascinating! I've been doing Vipassana meditation since I learned how at a monastery in Thailand. It makes me feel wonderful and makes me even more curious about science.
I spent the first 22 years of my life in Wisconsin. I was born on a tobacco farm in northern Wisconsin. My mom was a nun for 5 years until she gave up on religion, and became a hippie. My dad has been a light bulb salesman, a farmer, a social worker and currently my parents own a business together selling imaging equipment. We moved to Madison WI from the tobacco farm when I was 3.
In college I studied marketing and spent most of my free time rock climbing, hiking and running around in the forest with Hoofers and Alternative Breaks, two student orgs that I was active in. I finished college in 2006 and took off to see the world. I had many companions along the way who mean the world to me. I learned so much about myself, world history, how the world views Americans, and it was all priceless. I stayed on ~20 people's couches during my travels and made some amazing friends who I hope to keep in touch with for a long time.
Since returning from traveling, I've lived in San Francsico - which felt like home from the second I set foot here. I live at Haight and Ashbury with 4 other awesome 20-somethings.
PHILOSOPHY
Adventure is good!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I love couchsurfing. It rocks my world and I do it whenever possible. I love the excitement of meeting new people and I think it is amazing what can happen when we forget what our parents told us about not talking to strangers, and trust fellow humans. I've stayed with CS'ers in Costa Rica, Japan, India, Hong Kong, China, Turkey, Germany, Greece, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Spain and France. The experiences I've had with it have been wonderful, and the people I have met have been top-notch! I have hosted a few people, and met many others. I am excited to have a place of my own so that I can have new friends stay with me!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Indian Himalaya. The irrepressible silliness of the porters on my trek through the Himalaya. Taking a boat ride on the Euphrates to see where part of the Bible was written in Rumakale Turkey. The archaeological dig of the first known civilization in Chatalhoyuk Turkey. The amazing hospitality of people from every country I've been to. The happiness of people living with few creature comforts. Hearing the sound of lava as it crackled down a volcano in Guatemala. Meditating for 5 days straight in a Thai Buddhist Temple. A 3 hour hike through a misty, secluded part of the Great Wall without any tourists. Being picked up into the air by an elephant's trunk. Petting a tiger.
