Über mich

Hello Fellow Couchsurfers!

I can be on the quiet side when I first meet people, but I love learning about other cultures and traditions. I'll slowly open up once we get past first impressions.

Like most couchsurfers, I think I got bit by the travel bug.

I've worked as a part-time translator as well and volunteer tour guide. I can show you around Los Angeles as well as the University of Southern California where I currently study.

To me, Strangers are just friends waiting to happen!

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

As a kid, I wanted to be a storyteller. I will admit I had a preconceived motion that it involved traveling around the world and hear about stories as well. I figure that might be something fun for a lifetime.

Lo and Behold, my 3rd Grade Teacher told me, " Sorry, that's not possible. You are going to have to pick a different topic for your career day picture...."

Let's just say, I'd like to prove Ms. Stacy wrong. I think I can via Couchsurfing learn a lot more about other people's story as well as be able to tell the stories I had learned. That's why I'm here on an Adventure :D

Musik, Filme und Bücher

TLDR: Love Jazz, Reads Murakami, Enjoys SOL Manga

Do you like listening to Jazz by any chance? I used to visit the various Jazz Cafes in Taipei when I am home in Taiwan. If you know some really cool Jazz places in and around your place. I'd love to visit with you.

On another hand, I really enjoy watching Studio Ghibli Films Films. I think it is a weird mix of surrealism and fantasy that draws me into their world. For me, I find Shinkai Makoto's film really true to life. No matter how many times, I still always cry at the end of 5cm Per Second. (It's a really good movie; I'm more than happy to show you a copy of the film if you want :D )

I used to love "Holes" as a kid. It touched upon me the necessity of dreams. I suppose perversity was also part of the message. But most of all, I really enjoyed the happy ending!

Today, I am kind of tossed up between " Norwegian Wood" and "The Great Gatsby". I can identify pretty well with both of the characters of the two novel. I'm not entirely sure how to describe it although I suspect it had something to do with my "angsty" teenage years. Haha.

If you had to ask me about my favorite comics, I would say it would be "Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō"! The slow pacing coupled along with the idyllic life drew me. There is a sort of peace, tranquility I feel after I read a chapter or two about it. If I felt a need to laugh or maybe a pick me up after a bad day, I'd go for "Foxtrot" and "Calvin and Hobbes". The jokes and their accompanying allusions to our daily lives provides a sense of comedy.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I managed to take part of the Mauerpark Karoke fondly known as Bearpit Karaoke in Berlin Even now, I still am surprised I managed to sing "Can't Take My Eyes off You" in front of a huge crowd of Germans on their Saturday Park Break.

Also a side note, the experience of eating sandwiches every morning for a month was truly mind gobbling. I didn't think I'd want to eat another sandwich after the month of paying University Tuition.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Currently a student, I'm studying a business with an emphasis on international trade. Having worked before as an intern in a startup, I've always eyes and ears open toward entrepreneurship.

If I could share anything digitally with everybody, there is a one day itinerary for Taipei, I have compiled from various sources on the internet chiefly my experience.

It's really handy for a rushed one day trip of Taipei being able to take you to a wealth of good eats and awesome sights! ( http://goo.gl/EsCSmi )

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

I've worked before as a translator and also as a teaching assistant in ESL programs in Taiwan. If you are looking for an English or Chinese conversational partner, I'd be happy to. Likewise, I am currently learning Japanese, so I would appreciate the time you take to correct me there.

I can work those dishes as a Former Bus Boy; heck, I think my curry is something to brag about, but then again. Just let me know in advance ^_*

Also who would like to listen to some corny Jokes?
