About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living it up as if the sky is the limit

ABOUT ME

I am couchsurf late bloomer, I have heard about the website and met some people that have couchsurfed before. I was born and lived in South America for most of my life and came to the US to pursue an academic career. I just recently finished so with more time in hand I would love to do some more traveling. I have traveled before but mostly for conferences and symposiums, and most of the time I felt as if I didnt get to see the hidden culinary spots and the fun places. I enjoy learning about different cultures, it never ceases to amaze me the wonderful things you can learn about people in different parts of the world.

PHILOSOPHY

My passion is science, I have been interested in science since 7th grade. Though, lately, I am recognizing the value of connecting with other people, it is eye opening to learn about other cultures, traditions and languages. And that learning, unlike science, is not dry, is dynamic, is heart warming, is abstract, and for that I thank Couchsurfing for letting people see that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only hosted and surfed once, and both of those experiences were great. I am hoping to do more surfing now that I am in between grad school and looking for a job.

Interests

I have several "interests", I am an engineer, so I like anything related to science, I can talk about science non-stop. In my free time, I like to play sports, such as tennis and volleyball, so if you are in town and want to play some beach volleyball, I can show you some of the courts in Raleigh. I love food, I love trying new restaurants and cuisine, unfortunately raleigh is comparatively small city, so we dont have as much variety as in bigger cities, but we do have some good southern food and good barbeque if you want to try that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I havent traveled as much as I would like to, but I have been to many big cities in the States. The two cities that have stuck in my mind were New Orleans, Louisiana and Austin, Texas. Both cities have their own life, which you can only notice when you visit them. To a great extent the feel of New Orleans is driven by their people, if we were to switch the people of New Orleans with the people in Boston, then New Orleans wouldnt be New Orleans, but Boston will still be Boston regardless of who lives there. And Austin is a whole different beast, Austin is a city of contrast, but the contrast can only be seen from the outside, but when I visited Austin, the mix of big ego and liberal city seems to go hand in hand.
