ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Patrick and I'm 21 years old, I go to school at UC Berkeley (taking a semester off), I practice yoga, hike and cook, I'm a very healthy minded and embodied individual. I'm studying Psychology and I love speaking and listening to people, especially from different parts of the world! I combine Psychology with Yoga to help stimulate balance and growth in the mind and of the body. I am very easy going, very open, and very adventurous. I will try ANYTHING once (foolishly twice, at times) and you can ask me anything. That's the thing about people from the Bay Area, we're extremely interested in each other's inner-workings and open about our feelings and motives, well, at least the people in my circles are! I focus my life on the growth of my mind, body and spirit; I'm constantly trying to enhance these three aspects of my being. For my mind, I am double majoring in Rhetoric and Psychology at UC Berkeley. For my body, I eat healthily, exercise, practice yoga, frequently detoxify and tune my attention into my breath throughout the day. For my spirit, I dance, sing, meditate, love, and radiate compassion and optimism everywhere I go. With all three combined, I see the beauty of the world and its people. I like spending quality time with myself and I enjoy the company. I'm a writer as well and compulsively document my travels with words and photographs.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life to help others increase their self-awareness and understanding. I use psychology, yoga and many other disciplines to shape personal growth in a positive way. The world is suffering from people who are out-of-touch with the interconnectedness of this planet and its effects are dire. WAKE UP! I try my best to get people to think, contemplate and affirm that what they're doing in their lives is what they want to be doing. This journey starts at home and I spend a lot of time reading, meditating and contemplating the subject.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by totally enmeshing myself into my environment. I like to go to a new place and soak it up like a gecko; my goal is always to blend in and look like a natural! I am a good listener and always down to experience how life is in a new place.
When I'm back, I'm planning to host some Surfers in my house in Oakland, CA!

I have yet to couchsurf! Looking to change that during my time in Europe from March 20 - July.

Interesses

I spend a lot of time contemplating, meditating and breathing. I am a self-help/spiritual growth book junkie. Food is a huge passion of mine, I will try ANYTHING once and can really appreciate the fine flavors in various foods. I practice yoga and am looking to get certified as an Instructor one of these days. I plan to one day get a Ph.D. in Psychology so I can fulfill my dream of teaching yoga in the mornings and seeing patients in the afternoon... preferably in Hawaii!

One time I helped deliver some puppies that were being born.. the miracle of life is quite the miracle.

There have also been a few times where I have been sitting on a park bench or jogging and having some really powerful internal dialogues/feelings. When the thoughts/feelings became really intense, the wind mysteriously kicked up behind me as if it could hear my thoughts. I remember this happening two times and loved how absolutely in tune I felt with the universe and my surroundings.

There have also been a few times on the beaches in Hawaii where I looked around and just soaked in all of the goodness. It wasn't anything breathtaking, per say, but the mellowness of it all was where the true awe arose. Some psychologists speak of a Eupsychian environment, which is an environment best suited for spiritual, psychological and personal growth. I feel that Hawaii is one of those places.
