About Me

📍 Currently in Jakarta, Indonesia 🇮🇩

Current Mission

I am an entrepreneur working across the travel and export sectors, with a strong interest in building meaningful international connections. I firmly believe that cultural exchange is a form of modern diplomacy — one that fosters mutual respect, broadens perspectives, and deepens appreciation for the world’s diversity.

I warmly welcome open-minded travellers who value respect, curiosity, and shared experiences. I am LGBTQ+ friendly and believe strongly in inclusivity, personal freedom, and mutual understanding.

About me

My name is PRABU, and I am from Indonesia. I hold a Master’s degree from the UK and will be commencing my PhD programme. I consider myself a principled and thoughtful individual, deeply committed to personal growth, cross-cultural engagement, and meaningful collaboration.

I genuinely enjoy hosting and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. Courtesy, kindness, and respect are values I practise consistently and expect to reciprocate. I believe that sincere human connection is built through openness, empathy, and shared moments.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined Couchsurfing to connect with people who value culture, respect, and authentic human interaction. I believe experience is life’s most powerful teacher — every encounter offers an opportunity to learn, exchange perspectives, and grow.

For me, Couchsurfing is far more than travel. It represents cultural diplomacy in practice — a space where dialogue, empathy, and shared experiences bring people together beyond borders.

Through this community, I hope to contribute to conversations and initiatives that promote sustainable tourism, cultural appreciation, and the creative economy — essential pillars for resilient communities and a more inclusive global society.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am inspired by stories and art that reflect wisdom, humanity, and quiet strength.

🎬 Favourite film: The King’s Speech — a powerful portrayal of leadership, resilience, and dignity.
🎵 Favourite song: Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley — timeless, sincere, and beautifully simple.
📖 Favourite book: The Art of Happiness by His Holiness the Dalai Lama — a profound reflection on compassion, mindfulness, and inner peace.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most rewarding experiences has been contributing to Indonesia’s sustainable tourism agenda, aligning my academic background with my professional work in tourism and export.

Drawing on my UK education and entrepreneurial experience, I have supported strategies connected to Indonesia’s growing tourism economy — a sector that recorded approximately 20.17% growth in foreign tourist arrivals in 2024, reaching around 12.66 million visitors compared to the previous year.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a proud representative of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage, I often travel with selected Indonesian spices and ingredients, allowing me to prepare authentic home-cooked meals. I believe food is one of the most sincere forms of diplomacy — it creates connection beyond language and culture.

When appropriate, I may also share Indonesian batik, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Each piece carries a story — reflecting Indonesia’s history, philosophy, and artistic identity — and is offered as a genuine token of friendship.

In addition, I am passionate about digital storytelling as a modern form of cultural exchange. With experience using a DSLR, drone, GoPro, and MacBook, I enjoy creating thoughtful content that highlights local traditions, landscapes, and shared intercultural experiences — supporting global understanding and sustainable tourism.
