About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Leave it better than I found it

ABOUT ME

I left my job as a food product developer in 2006 to work as a nanny in Paris. I wasn't done traveling after that, so worked as a WWOOFer on organic farms in several countries around Europe. While CSing in Rotterdam, I discovered the school Kaospilots. After a year in Holland, I am now transferring to finish my studies at Kaospilots in Denmark. I am in the process of learning about myself, learning about others, figuring out what I can contribute...all while trying not to take things so frickin seriously.

PHILOSOPHY

Things are what they are. Try to keep things in perspective and in balance. Everything you need, you have inside already. There is nothing wrong with you! Use the materials available!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Had two people surf my couch when I was in Portland and have loved many couches who belong to other people Since. Have also gone to a couple gatherings and whatnot. I have even surfed non CS couches forcing those unaware souls to become part of our cult whether they wanted to or not. Perhaps we should start a tent surfing group...Buhahahaha!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Soon to be hosting again! I've surfed in France, Italy, Germany, Neatherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland and can honestly say that I haven't had a bad experience yet.

Interests

I have lots, so I'll just say what I love. I love going out to breakfast with friends and family, listening to Jimi Hendrix while skiing, throwing a frisbee as far as I can and have someone catch it for a score right where I wanted them to. I love having philosophical conversations with strangers, bloody marys with lots of garlic (I make a pretty good one), climbing somewhere high to look out over everything, riding Celest (my road bike) around town, cooking for people, LIFE!

Music, Movies, and Books

Tony Furtado, Dirty Martini, Neko Case, Be Good Tanyas, Everyday Prophets, White Stripes. Greg Brown for mellow times, The Nields, Rusted Root, Bob Dylan, kinda silly, but US3 fires me up. Michael Franti has a rockin sound and really great lyrics and Ani DeFranco is a poet from another planet (really just listen to them sometime!). Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Big Lebowski ("nice marmot"), Igby Goes Down, Way of the Gun, anything by Quentin Terintino. Books: Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Fountainhead, Catch-22, Lord of the Flies, Dune, The Tipping Point, Cider House Rules and Setting Free the Bears, and The Road Less Traveled.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The generosity and compassion in people

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to cook with others! I know some good French and Greek dishes. I can teach skiing, ultimate frisbee, how to live on an extremely small budget, how to blow bubbles with chewing gum, how to count to ten in several languages...things I would like to know more about: organic farming/sustainability, where the recycling goes after we put it in the bins, playing my harmonica, how to make movies...

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Virgin Islands, U.S.
