About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seize the day, travel the world and getting to know lovely people everywhere I go. Help close all slaughterhouses. Spread kindness. Practise the Scottish accent :-)

ABOUT ME

I try to be an open, honest and spontaneous person (whether I succeed is a different thing).
Adventure and humour are the things that make me survive in this crazy place called the world.
Everywhere I go, I can feel at home as long as there's nice people around. I am allergic to arrogance and materialism. I care a lot about animals, hence I am attempting a vegan lifestyle and therefore would appreciate guests not putting meat in my fridge :-)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to enjoy life in the present, as much as I possibly can. You never know what tomorrow brings or if there even is a tomorrow. Life is a party if you want to, really, and it's not a rehearsal either :-).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Wherever I'll be, I'll contact people to see if they're up for anything or in the best case, have me staying at their place. And vice versa, I'll try and be available to people who are lost in my city, need a friendly person to talk to, need a place to stay. I am currently living in a 2 bedroom flat in Edinburgh, so you will have a while bedroom to yourself. When I surf, I always give more than I take from my host. I find that is the least I can do to show respect.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted quite a few people while living in different countries. More than I was hosted but I don't mind. I sometimes hosted a few people last minute, when they were abandoned by their host.

Over time I encountered some guests that take things for granted or just come and use everything you have. To me it should be an exchange, there should be mutual respect and appreciation, so please don't request my couch last minute or without any personal interest, as in that case, you will find your request declined. Also don't be a freeloader. A host gives up privacy to give you a free space, the least you can do is return the favour, whatever it is at that point in time. I understand people might be on a budget, but if you are travelling for several months, there is no reason to be cheap towards people who are helping you out.

Interests

Getting to know foreign/local people, backpacking/living in different parts of the world, languages, charity, animals and their wellbeing, partying, eating out for dinner, watching a good movie, being spontanious with friends, snorkelling/diving,... and probably many more!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies and books who give me another point of view, who teach me something about issues I am or ain't familiar with.
Music: Moby, Keane, Faithless... pop/rock/hiphop kind of things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Skydiving in New Zealand, stripclubbing in Buenos Aires, scuba diving Asia/Australia, full moon party Koh Pha Nang Thailand (2004), magic mushrooms in Bali, dancing in a storm in the Australian outback, ...But the most amazing thing is my day to day work in which I try to really get into people's minds.

Teach, Learn, Share

We're all at the 'university of life'. I want to learn more about peoples reasons to do certain things, about their way of living and thinking, about the struggles in their lives. I am very happy to share the things life taught me so far (adoption, racism, living abroad).
