About Me
Hi there!
I grew up in Brazil and got my first experience studying abroad as a 16 year old in 2008, when I was a junior in High School. I lived one year in the state of Wisconsin, northern USA. Since then, I broadened my horizons and started looking forward to meeting new places and people. Later on, when I was already a sophomore undergrad in Brazil studying Biology, I went on a month backpack trip with another 6 Brazilian friends and visited some amazing places in Europe. Unfortunately I wasn’t aware of couchsurfing back then. It was only in 2013 that I got my first couchsurfing experience in Las Vegas, USA, during spring break of another exchange program in the US (Yes, I love the US haha!), this time studying in American University, Washington D.C. as a senior undergrad through the “Science without Borders” fellowship. After 5 years in the Science field and performing research, I realize how discovering new things not only academically but also in life is super intriguing and interesting.
My favorite hobbies are hiking, powerlifting, biking, hanging out with friends, and of course, eating delicious food! I personally love Asian food, especially Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese. I’m also in love with Brazilian food (I’m by the way becoming a pretty decent cook and have been improving my cooking skills for the last couple months!). It’s all about trying, right?
I’ve always been very disciplined with things in life, so I can get things done. I can’t stand idleness. I just like to feel productive to some extent so I end my day and think to myself “I made some progress today!” One of the coolest experiences I’ve had was being part of the Scout Movement in Brazil for almost 8 years. I actively engaged in many activities, such as survival camps, first aid courses, community service, outdoors, etc. and ended up learning how to deal with group work and making many friends. I was a leader until last year but then I left Brazil to purse my further academic goals.

Music, Movies, and Books
It depends on the occasion, but I’m pretty open minded about many different kinds. I personally love Electropop and Hip Hop when working out, but also greatly enjoy Easy Listening and Classic Hits when chilling out in the pool when life allows me to :)
I love watching movies except cheesy western ones and horror movies!
I enjoy reading every now and then, but I'm not a big fan of fiction. I love books that teach me lessons, for instance I've been recently reading a book about financial education.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Baked meatballs with fresh tomato sauce. Trust me, they melt in your mouth! :)
