For thirty years of my life, I told myself the story that I couldn't afford travel, I couldn't take the time off of work and, really, that I didn't *need* to travel-- that I could find all of the stimulus for growth and exploration within my own country, close to home. This was a fine story-- and it kept me safe and satisfied and grateful for a long time. Those thirty years have grown me into a strong, wise woman.

Since then? I'm writing a new story. I'm stepping forward, asking for what I want, allowing myself to have it, expanding my mind onto a global scale.

I'm a Wilderness First Responder and have training/certification in swiftwater rescue, Leave No Trace, non-violent communication and de-escalation.

I'm a journaler and poetry-lover. All said, I like quiet and solitude as much as more active pursuits, value my writing time and have a tendency to get caught up in beautiful vistas for long periods of time.

I'm still in recovery from a broken ankle, have been focusing on physical therapy. That said, I love whitewater kayaking, aerial silks, walking, hiking, ecstatic dancing, and finding other fun and dynamic ways to move my body.

My general philosophy: Cultivate Reverence.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I love hosting travelers and have couch-surfed all over the U.S, sleeping everywhere from kitchen floors to beach-front condos. I became a chronic surfer when working as a tour manager for a traveling musician!

I am interested in diving into the authentic lives of the people I'm visiting with. I enjoy seeing how everyone moves within their spaces and takes care of themselves and others in unique ways. I have little interest in tourist attractions and a LOT of interest in what locals find special and beautiful.

Whitewater kayaking, walks, aerial silks, Nonviolent Communication, tarot and divination, daily meditation, yoga, snuggling, writing/journaling, reading (and audio books! and podcasts!), outdoor exploration of beautiful places, rural areas, forests, deserts, hot springs, swimming holes, connecting with myself and the natural world, drinking a lot of water, spending as much time as possible away from my phone.

Music that makes my heart sing, transports me, energizes me. I'm learning the mandolin... still in the "making noise" as compared to "making music" phase, but I'll get there. One of greatest highlights of my summer was attending RiverTunes music camp in Pinecrest, CA-- it was life-changing. Ask me about it.

Book interests are varied, but Barbara Kingsolver is my writing role-model. Oh, and poetry! I err towards the contemporary. I can get lost, totally drunk on poetry. William Stafford, Naomi Shihab Nye, Tony Hoaglund, Gary Snyder, Mary Oliver, Billy Collins, Galway Kinnell... The list goes on!

Movies are fun, but I'd usually rather spend my time talking with you. :)

I see amazing things everyday, and am constantly blessed by the natural world. I think it's lucky to see flocks of birds, and am fascinated by unique displays of animal behavior. My favorite gifts: sacred tokens of nature such as rocks, special leaves and feathers, burrs on my socks, and animal sightings.

I started thinking for myself, and never looked back.
