ABOUT ME
My husband and I are Texans teaching in South Korea so that we can build our Earth-friendly home some day. www.cobcottage.com We love a relaxed and comfortable lifestyle. We enjoy life on a small budget with a large appreciation for nature, friendship and food.
PHILOSOPHY
Whatever I can do to be creative and reduce waste (from my household and from others) makes me happy.
In a country where brand names and fancy things rule the day, I'm a budding artist and curious freegan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen people in the bush of Africa living on $70 a year, their farming skills, and their dependence on each other and God. It made me feel like I've never lived nor ever been happy.
Teach, Learn, Share
Making things that you need, or just that make you happy, is much easier than you think. I have learned to make all kinds of things, not out of talent but by simply taking the time to figure it out. In this day and age you can learn to do almost anything. If you want to try something out just look it up online and give it a shot. What have you got to lose?
Here is one thing that I do, I make jam or jelly: all it takes is fruit, pectin, sugar, jars, and a big pot. Follow the directions on the pectin, it'll tell you what to do. You don't need all the fancy equipment, just make do with what you have. I always add a little cinnamon to mine, I like it better that way. Keep a jar for yourself and give the rest away. The joy of sharing is so much better than eating it yourself.
