Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
i've hosted two sets of surfers in the past year. very gracious guests. the experience couldn't have been better. my roommate was managing the coachsurfing page, so I was never aware when anyone was arriving. he'd be like: we gotta traveler, and i'd yell: rockin' good news.
i've yet to couchsurf myself. but am amped about a break from work and a vacation.

Music, Movies, and Books
everything: the fall, leonard cohen, gil scott heron, tom t. hall, john cooper clark, the delfonics, herb alpert, wire, the sea and cake, cocteau twins, lee hazlewood, the monks, theloneus monk, the smiths, stereo lab, built to spill, moondog, astrud gilberto, steely dan, curtis mayfield, serge gainsbourg, the mekons, danny elfman, pulp, the sonics, eddie arnold, archers of loaf, neil young, the residents, dexter gordon, the go-betweens, martin denny, XTC, the feelies, fleetwood mac, the minutemen.
love hip hop. camron, RZA, freeway, jadakiss, nas, and HOVA
any kind of old lounge music or kitschy pop.
recent movies i've watched... and liked: the falcon and the snowman and hurlyburly with sean penn, burn after reading, the singing detective, i like robert downey jr. moscow zero, goodfellas, how high, twin peaks first season, james mason and peter sellers and jack nicholson i dig.
i've liked reading brett easton ellis and irving welch and chuck palahniuk. the song lyrics of mark e. smith and the poetry of john cooper clark. enjoy camus, sartre, foucault and chomsky, but would rather flip through a big book of art.
Teach, Learn, Share
i love slang terms, idioms, catch phrases, euphemisms, old sayings. they're always culture-specific, and its super interesting how they spread.
also interested in knowledge passed down to people from their parents and grandparents. farmer's almanac type shite. not anything too serious. more like: a dash of salt on coffee grounds before brewing to take away some bitterness or, how to distill one's own moonshine for instance...
