About Me

Hello! My name is Priscilla. I was born in the United States but grew up in the border city of Tijuana, Mexico. I could say that I've been trapped between two cultures my whole life. I'm a recent college grad who majored in Art History. The travel bug has bitten me very recently. In 2016, I spent a year abroad in Lund, Sweden and had the opportunity to travel to different spots in Europe. which made me fall in love with traveling and people. I've been to very few places compared to other people, but I feel like once you start you can't really stop :)

I am not accepting guests at the moment because I am not home! Haha. But I hope to open my house again very soon ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I mentioned before, I've recently become interested in traveling and I feel like couchsurfing is a great way to visit places without the burden of booking and paying for a hotel. In addition to that, couchsurfing can help you build networks and it's a wonderful way to practice cultural exchange. Speaking for myself, it is pretty intimidating for me to meet people at hostels, but on couchsurfing you not only get a "free" place to stay. You also gain a friend, which can be pretty uplifting when you're traveling alone.

Interests

Music (fave band is Peter, Bjorn and John), food (specially pizza! and Mexican food) beer, movies (I'm open to recommendations), web, art, history, art history (that's my college major). My favorite artists are Marcel Duchamp, Nicanor Parra, Van Gogh, and a very long etcetera. I like Swedish culture and language (and would love to learn more). And of course, traveling.

I'm not really a party person, though I really like to dance. If I'm on the mood I can go out and party, but for the most part I am a very calm and quiet person. My perfect night out would consist on sitting at a "hole-in-the-wall" bar, drinking some good local craft beer and having an engaging conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fave Band: Peter, Bjorn and John. Recently been listening to Sylvan Esso.
Movies: Inglorious Basterds, Across the Universe, The Sword in the Stone, Midnight in Paris
Books: The Battles in the Dessert by Jose Emilio Pacheco

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess traveling by myself to NYC, Boston and Europe. I was a very scared person, mainly because of the culture I grew up in and the things my family would say to me. However, after hanging out with new people and moving to a new place for college, I realized that I was my own obstacle and started to break out of my shell.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Spanish and to cook some Mexican Dishes. I wanna learn from pretty much any culture. The language I'm trying to learn right now is Swedish, as my boyfriend is from that country. I can share my space, food and some interesting stories with you :) We certainly can go get some beer, watch movies and eat delicious falafel ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Interesting stories about my life and my culture and also a good pair of ears. I consider myself a great listener/shoulder to cry. Whether you wanna tell me about what you ate for lunch or your biggest dreams and hopes, I'm here for you :) Also, good food! I'm not the best cook, but with a little bit of creativity everything is possible :)
