About Me
CURRENT MISSION
About to embark on a mini tour with my band, and get down get down with the good people of CO!!!
ABOUT ME
I would say I get along with most everyone I meet, and I love meeting new people. I'm a good listener and a very good talker! I love to make people laugh, and tell stories.
I was born in India (hence the name Priya), but I grew up in the U.S. I would love to do some international traveling within the next few years, and finally get to experience other parts of the globe. I've met some awesome people from all over the world who make me want to visit their countries. Until the time is right however, I feel there is so much of my own country I haven't seen yet, and I try to explore new places every chance I get.
I used to live in a valley in the White Mts and although I love the city I'm in now, I miss hiking sooo much! There is nothing like being out in nature...real nature. I also love camping, concerts, music festivals, cooking, eating, get-togethers w/ good company, wine, board games, and dancing. Oh, how I love dancing! The kind where you get down so good that you're all sweaty by the end of it, and you just don't give a damn! I've been playing hand percussion for 8 years, and I'm an amateur harmonica player. I'm in a funk rock band that plays gigs around Austin quite often. If ya ever wanna jam, i'm always down!
PHILOSOPHY
Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Enjoy the right balance of planning ahead and doing things spur of the moment. Also...best problem solver out there: rock, paper, scissors (best 2 out of 3).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed couches around the US and had people surf mine. It's always been an excellent time!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I became a CS member several years ago. My friend and I used it while we were on a road trip together. We met some awesome people while surfing and got the full experience for sure. Now that I'm home, I'm glad to be able to give back to the CS community. I've hosted and couchsurfed on multiple occasions since then.
Interests
Fooood! Cooking it, eating it, wish I had a yard so I could grow it! Jammin', hoopin', swimmin', star gazin', live music (performing and enjoying others perform), comedy, and shakin' it all about. New places, new people, old friends. Poetry. The great outdoors, and exercise that makes you happy. Personal Training- Teaching people things about their bodies they never knew before. Learning. Music, Movies, and Books
The first movies that come to mind: The Princess Bride, The Green Mile, Liar Liar, Litle Miss Sunshine, Nacho Libre, Braveheart...yeah, that's right Braveheart.
A few favorite genres of music: funk, soul, bluegrass, folk, reggae, jazz, and blues. I also love world music with lots of percussion that makes you wanna shake yo bootay! If there are brass instruments, a banjo, fiddle, stand up bass, or harmonica in a band I'm bound to like it!
The two books on my nightstand right now: 1. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 2. The Poetry of Pablo Neruda
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've done a back flip out of a plane at 10,000 feet, watched a meteor shower on top of Cathedral Ledge, and caught my first fish (a Kingfish) that fed 9 of my family members that night!
Teach, Learn, Share
I could definitely be your aerobics instructor for the day and get you sweating! Woo! Haha! I also love being "yoga instructor Priya", or setting up strength training circuits! I could teach you how to play a djembe or doumbek. I could also teach you some beginner hooping tricks. I enjoy cooking, I'd love to share some of my favorite recipes with any who would like them or like to make them with me.
