Overview
About Me
I love making things. Whether it’s clothes, food, jewelry, or a perfectly organized closet, I love it! It’s not the field I currently work in, but I went to school for fashion design. I’ve been sewing and designing clothes since childhood; always taking art lessons, music lessons, pottery lessons, anything that sparked my interest. I thrive on creating. I now work as a freelance researcher for business owners and entrepreneurs looking to expand current business ventures or break into new arenas. I also take side jobs organizing homes and offices (because everybody needs a little less chaos in their life;).
I love being outside and being active. Love my daily yoga routine, biking, walking around for no reason other than to be outdoors.
Music and art are extremely important to me. I tend to gravitate more towards underground and counterculture movements and genres, away from mainstream, but I have tremendous respect for anyone that is truly inspired, creating what they love. I like people who live for themselves while also loving others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I find people fascinating, especially those whose life experiences differ from my own, so I love meeting new people and getting to see the world from their perspective. I once watched a Rick Steves lecture where he explains how people who travel and see the world outside of their own little bubble tend to be more open, tolerant, caring and compassionate. Those are qualities I value, and I agree with him wholeheartedly.
I think we all have a need to feel connected, both to people individually and to a community. Expanding your community to include others from different cultures helps us be more well-rounded personally and allows us to feel more connected to each other as a whole.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing the Pope give the papal address on Easter Sunday in St. Peter's Square, filled with thousands of people from all over the world...
It was unbelievable- I'm not religious (atheist, actually), but still the whole time I was just thinking "I'm in ROME!! That's the POPE!!! I can't believe I'm here!"
Every time I see the Milky Way on a clear night up north I get that feeling too.
Teach, Learn, Share
Anyone with knowledge of things like metal-working/welding, glass-blowing, screen printing, out there? I have experience with other forms of art to share, but those are things I've always wanted to learn. Some things I haven't yet done, but would love to try: skydiving, surfing, whitewater rafting...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Sewing, pattern making, jewelry making, vast knowledge of music. I'm a fantastic cook and looooove cooking for people. I taught myself how to dread hair, make dread extensions & weave extensions into natural dreads, so that's a bit of knowledge that would save some $ for anyone interested in dreading their hair. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy cleaning (it quiets my mind..) so I wouldn't mind sharing that too!
As for sharing with guests, all of the above as well as my knowledge of Detroit: the city, the architecture, events, restaurants, bars, clubs, art, music, hidden gems.
