About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To keep an open mind and an open heart.

ABOUT ME

I spend most of my time with a good book or a good friend. I'm a mathematics student at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, and when I'm not reading textbooks I play a lot of guitar. I'm perfectly content with a pizza, a coke, a friend, and an episode of Scrubs, though I'm always up for a good adventure. My favorite season is winter, my favorite sport is frisbee, and my favorite fruit is a clementine. Fun facts -- I have no sense of smell and as a general rule I avoid eating sauce.

PHILOSOPHY

I look for fulfillment in the academic challenges of mathematics, the emotional challenges of friendship, and the existential challenges of music. In the short term, give me someone to love, something to listen to, or a problem to solve and I'm the happiest guy in the world. In the long term, I hope that my life can be used to give back to the world economically, environmentally, and socially, such that I can help to make someone's life better than it would have been had I not been a part of it. All you need is love, baby.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Breakfast Club, Saved, Switchfoot, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Grab onto me Tightly as if I Knew the Way, Harry Potter, and anything that I haven't yet seen, heard, or read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've played a saxophone solo on stage at Disney World and I've seen the sunrise from the top of a mountain. I'm not sure which is more worthy of this space, so you get both.

Teach, Learn, Share

Experience your emotions. Feel them completely and let them fully penetrate you; good, bad, large, and small. Emotions are your mind's reaction to an external stimulus and they're all there for a reason -- its important to understand them. Sadness and pain are rarely good, but they are often healthy when approached rationally. Pushing emotions aside will only stunt your personal growth. Once you've gotten everything you can from an emotion, though, move on. Dwelling on a particular feeling is bad, even for happiness and excitement. Don't be afraid of the way you feel, for emotions are meant to be a source of guidance.
