About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seek and Enjoy.

ABOUT ME

I've been practicing photography as my only job for about 15 years now. I feel lucky to have somehow been given this life that has felt so blessed. Currently working on a photo book about Nepal and have been an activist for Human Rights in Burma. It would be great to meet new people on the road with whom I can develop a friendship and perhaps learn something new from each other.

PHILOSOPHY

Helen Keller once said: Live is either a great adventure, or it's nothing. We should always try to treat each other with respect, dignity, and an open mind. To live and die with integrity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Share my time, my experiences, and my couch with travelers and adventurers from all over the world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchSurfed a few weeks at friend's places in Brooklyn when I go to visit New York City - one of the best places to couch surf in my opinion. I also met a great woman in Egypt through CouchSurfing and we had a spendid time seeing the world of Cairo. Hosted a very nice Aussie couple for 3 nights and just hosted a traveler from Portland Oregon last December.

Interests

Sleeping, eating, reading, writing, breathing, laughing, living, observing, participating, listening, discussing, yoga, green tea, sushi, making art.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Royal Tennanbaums, The Arcade Fire, Stand Still Like the Hummingbird.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Angkor Wat, a sky full of giant fruit bats near Komodo Island, the duomo in Sienna, The Kalalau Trail in Kauai, Burning Man 2000...so many more experiences and things.... perhaps the one that was most influential : I stayed with a local family in Temmangung Java Indonesia for a night, completely unplanned. They were so generous and kind, yet had so little, it put the (lack of) kindness of Americans to shame. Climbed to the highest peak on Foligandros (Greece) at midnight on my 30th birthday, drank a bottle of wine and howled at the moon over the ocean.

Teach, Learn, Share

The future depends on what we do in the present.
- Gandhi

Have questions about photography? I will do my best to answer them. I'm no master, but I can take a good photo from time to time. I've learned from school and other photographers, but mostly I've learned by just going out and taking photographs.
