About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I have talked about traveling since I was 13 (after I first saw Trainspotting - weird movie to give you the travel bug, but there it is). Now I'm finally in a position to take some time off and explore this great big world of ours! I'm very curious to meet people from different backgrounds, cultures and perspectives. I am a social animal and I love discussing anything and everything (nothing is off limits).
ABOUT ME
I'm originally from Houston, went to college in Austin then moved to LA after college. It took me a few years but I discovered my love of Southern California through hiking, camping, rock climbing and a plethora of farmer's markets. I love going to the movies...like...in a movie theatre - I know, weird. I am always thirsty for knowledge, especially about engineering. I've recently started studying up on survivalism and street combatives.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I took my first international trip in the spring of 2015 and backpacked 6 cities in 4 countries in 21 days on my own. It was a life-changing experience and now I spend a lot of time thinking about my next trip. I was able to find accommodations in 4 of the cities through friends of friends. I stayed with a wonderful young artist couple in Lyon, France through Couchsurfing and they couldn't have been more accommodating. I ate amazing food (and even attempted to cook for them) and walked all over the city with my hosts. It definitely made Lyon one of the highlights of my entire trip.
I love the vibe of the people I've met at the meetups in LA. Everyone is so friendly and accepting and generally adventurous and curious about the human experience. I look forward to getting more involved in the community this year as I think it is a great outlet for making new friends.
Interests
I LOVE the outdoors. Camping, climbing, hiking, biking - you name it. I try to get outdoors every weekend. Living in Southern California makes this much easier because the weather is always perfect and there are so many beautiful mountains within an hour's drive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacked 6 cities in 4 countries on my own in Western Europe - without having ever traveled internationally before. What an incredible experience!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very clean and am happy to do house cleaning and cooking in return for access to a warm place to sleep, a shower and a kitchen. I can teach some basics about cooking. I want to learn how to view the world from a different perspective. I would love to share my love of movies with anyone and everyone. Movies are a great way to find common interest between strangers and soon-to-be friends. I am not much for tourist attractions when I visit someplace new (especially a new country), except for archaeological history - can't get enough of that stuff. I'm much more interested in living life they way the locals do. I want to hang out at YOUR favorite coffee shop. I want to relax at YOUR favorite public park or fountain to read and people watch. I want to visit YOUR local market and discover all of the local ways to cook, eat, and enjoy food.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Home-cooked meals, enthusiastic conversation, an encyclopedic knowledge of movies, the ability to document an everyday adventure (I take pictures of everything all the time). I'm also happy to take portraits of my hosts.
