About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live, Learn and Grow

ABOUT ME

Laid back and fun. Thoughtful and considerate. Very community oriented.

PHILOSOPHY

Only boring people get bored.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Host and travel. Have had great experiences on CS!

My most recent was this past spring when I spent a month traveling to Amsterdam and throughout Germany. Met a lot of amazing couchsurfers and had a blast!

I should also note that one reason I offer up my couch in Grand Forks is to provide a safe and welcoming place for queer travelers passing through. As a bi person, that's important to me.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a few times and surfed a few times as well. There are not a lot of couchsurfers coming through North Dakota, otherwise I would host more often lol

Interests

Concerned about the state of the environment and interested in creative solutions. I'm especially interested in the way that we design our cities.

I enjoy out door activities such as rock climbing, adventure racing and biking. I'm also a big music fan and love NPR. Good food, beer and wine make life that much sweeter. I'm fortunate to live near family and work with some great people.

I like politics when it works to bring people of different perspectives together and solve problems. I despise politics when it is used to exploit our differences and advance narrow self interests at the expense of the greater good.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh man this is hard.. so many!

Twice in my life I've had musicians as roommates. They both liked and appreciated a wide range of music - which was a huge influence on me. Beastie Boys, Beck and Prince are very high on my list. Pretty much anything Danger Mouse touches agrees with me. One of my favorite things to do is share music with friends old and new.

I read more articles than books these days it seems (I blame the internet lol). When I do read books, I gravitate toward Vonnegut and Tom Robbins or non fiction focused on cities or the environment.

I LOVE Rick and Morty!!!

Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies of all time. Recently, I've enjoyed Wolf of Wall Street, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Big Hero 6. Boyhood was incredible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drinking from a fountain by the Alhambra in Granada, Spain and thinking about how many people of different cultures over thousands of years had drank from that same fountain.

Too many incredible moments from nature to pick just one or two... from the Mediterranean Sea to the Pacific Ocean. The Appalachian Trail to Rocky Mountain National Park. The rugged beauty of Zion and Bryce NP's in Utah to seeing a mama grizzly and her two cubs in Glacier NP. Not to mention, the big beautiful sky and gorgeous prairie flowers of my home, North Dakota!
