About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Perfect my granola making skills

ABOUT ME

I am 27 years old and grew up on a blueberry farm in Salem Oregon. In college I went on a foreign exchange program to Queretaro Mexico to learn some Spanish. I enjoyed my time there so much I changed majors from English to Spanish. Right after graduation (and working the summer on the blueberry farm) I went to Guadalajara and took a teacher training course. A month later I was teaching 6 and 7 year olds English at a small private grade school in Zamora Michoacan. After that I went to Costa Rica and taught English at a language school in San Jose. I am now at home in Oregon working at a credit union trying to help people save money.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is simpler then most people think. If you don't try to accomplish your goals then you will never know your possibilities. The tough part is knowing what you really want out of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

You can find me at local events and CS Gatherings

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have met some wonderful people through my experience with Couchsurfing.com and most of them are my neighbors. It's nice to know you have the CS network as a resource for more then just traveling.

Interests

Travel, reading, movies, music... you know...the usual. Also theater, my little brother is an aspiring actor. He's just about at the point where I'm too poor to go see his plays.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just finished the Dune series and am now working on El leon, la bruja y el ropero and some other spanish translations. Some other books I think may have changed my life include Don Quijote, some of the works of Chuck Palaniuk, and Curt Vonegut(sp?). I like movies too although I am fairly critical, especially of remakes sequels, prequels, or movies made shortly after a successful one with some of the same ideas, themes or plot lines. I enjoy original ideas much much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went skydiving once. Ive seen/climbed el templo del sol at Teotihuacan. I saw a starving three legged cat catch and eat a whole pigeon. Amazing is very relative.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well I can teach English and I want to learn more Spanish or at least learn how to speak it well. I would also like to learn some other romance languages...French, Italian.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama

Countries I’ve Lived In

Costa Rica, Mexico, United States
