About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Going to Taiwan to learn Mandarin

ABOUT ME

I'm a Polish-born and raised translator living in Belgium and eager to add Chinese to my skillset. To reach that goal I will spend a couple of months in Taiwan starting from December. I am pretty social though prefer 1-on-1 contacts to group gatherings. I did some long term travelling in my life (21 months long at a time), then have enjoyed my sedentary life for the last 13 years and now I feel it's time for a new adventure. I'm looking forward to living a couple of months in Asia, discovering new foods and culture, and brushing up my Chinese. I'll be very happy to meet some local people to introduce me to their local lifestyle.

PHILOSOPHY

There's always a bright side to things, it's all in your attitude. Ask me and I'll nearly always find some sort of silver lining :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like sci-fi books, historic panoramas and in general books that make you feel "Fuck, I wish I had this kind of imagination" .
Movies - insightful movies abt relationships like Take That Waltz and Republic of One, smart mysteries or thrillers where everything checks out in the end (think Mamet), smart comedies.
Music - mostly rock and experiments in mixing rock, folk and other stuff but also a devoted fan of David Bowie, Pixies, Ella Fitzgerald and the Beatles

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sunset at Amazonian rivers (never up early enough to see the sunrise :P), wheezing down a dune on a sandboard, going down with a swirl on a paraglide, getting lost in a jungle with not enough supplies and little hope of getting back (feels the best to get back after all!), shunning authorities while illegally in quite a militarized country.

Teach, Learn, Share

Share a handful of geeky and useless facts that come handy as conversation starters.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook sth, help you practice foreign languages, teach you how to make a proper sourdough bread.
