One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Two girls from Laos gave me a tour of their small village (Pak Beng) and their simple way of life. They took me around to different huts and kindly offered me food and drink, asking nothing. Their kindness and openness showed me that we truly are a global family. I was mesmerized by their simple happiness and altruism.

Laos is still relatively untouched by the benefits and woes of capitalism. The land seemed so green and fertile, and the air seemed so pure. An amazingly joyful and powerful experience I may never have again.
